The robots themselves looked cool - the voices/actors were terrible though and I think would be lost on an American audience (or a Brit such as myself, who has never heard of this so called 'comedy duo') :p

I liked this episode. The interactions between the various characters were fun and I also liked Amy for a change, and the interactions between the Ponds. The mystery of the ship was also nicely crafted. The scene with Rory's Dad at the end was a nice touch. One other thing I really liked was that India was in charge of protecting Earth. It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine that the future in nearly all sci-fi shows is so white and anglo-centric, even though it will probably be a lot more multi-cultural and non-white so this was a detail I really appreciated.
I would have preferred it if the story had been a little less dark and the Silurians hadn't been all murdered by Solomon. Him having the dinosaur killed was a chilling scene, too. I'm not sure about the Doctor seemingly killing him at the end, though. On the other hand, maybe he didn't and Solomon was teleported to somewhere and will show up again at a later point. Then again, I do understand why he did it, and the Doctor has done pretty horrible things in the past. It's just a rather jarring departure from 'the man who never would'. I also felt sorry for the robots (which I liked with their banter despite not knowing Mitchell and Webb - that was very Doctor Who-ish, I thought).

ETA: Why isn't the poll public? I'd like to have an overview of who voted for what.

to me, the two robots were like something out of a children's cartoon or Sarah Jane. Or was that the intention? My 7 year old nephew loved them, but I just cringed as it made me realise that maybe I am getting a bit too old for this show. ;)

That's because they were out of a children's show!

bbc reused them from a kid's show called mission 2110, I assume it saved them a few bob
I thought they were the robots from "The Empty Planet"

Very impressed with Mr. Chibnall. if he produce a similar quality story for The Power of Three then he will have redeemed himself for some weak efforts of late :)

How is it possible for a Brit NOT to know who Mitchell and Webb are? They (almost) literally get everywhere!

Ah well, as a Brit who does know them, not my problem :techman:

Yes, that was the one. Riding on the coat-tails of The Crystal Maze, pretty much.
For some reason, this is the version for older contestants - the one I remember was the kids version on CITV... or maybe it wasn't. It's been ages since I saw it.

Ah yes, that's the one I was thinking off. Can't remember if it was the kids version or the oldies one I remember watching though - probably the latter from memory.

(G)Ood. Fun 45 minutes that had plenty of laughs. Liked how we see quickly the doctor picks people up, it should be a lesson to Amy to get on with her life and stop waiting for the him. Solomon was a scum bag who got what was coming to him. It's not the first time the Doctor has sent someone to their death.

Was it just me or did it seem it would've been quicker just to run than to ride that dino? Not as cool, though.

And the Doctor might need some Ritalin. :)

I think it would help if they made the logo larger to appreciate the new themed skins. Is it sized like that so it will work on 4:3 TVs?

To me it fit the theme of "no second chances" well, but in the moments just before the explosion I thought it would have been even better if the small ship were able to hold it's distance to the missiles but unable to slow down... ever (or until there was a story for Solomon to return).
Kind of a missed opportunity.

I suspect if Solomon hadn't done what he did in the episode, he wouldn't have earned the Doctor's wrath.

That was pretty good, if a little random. I find I enjoy Moffat Who more viewing it as a kind of live-action cartoon, which this episode was in spades. If the story had been done up in hand-drawn animation with lots of Loony Toons squash-and-stretch, I'd probably have loved it.

The story was very rote by-the-numbers meat-and-potatoes buoyed by lots and lots of manic romp and random characters. The romp worked pretty well and helped carry the episode but I don't think they could do this week after week. Sometimes you need to break it up to help appreciate the crescendos.

That was pretty damn good. Who would have imagined we'd say that about a Chris Chibnall script? Kudos, that man.

Solomon committed genocide. He got, perhaps, less than he deserved, but he was a nasty, venal piece of work. Mind you, as a couple of others have said, he might have been a good recurring villain.

Liked the extra companions, liked Rory's dad, the sheer joy of father and son flying a spaceship was a cool moment. Which one of us wouldn't want to do that with our dads? :) Liked Nefertiti.

Little thrown by the double entendres. "It's sniffing my balls. Golf balls."

But overall, a lot of fun. A lot of fun.
