Maybe River can regenerate without changing forms, like Jenny?

I wish RTD or Moffat would address this because I don't think Jenny regenerated because in that episode she expelled the same colour gas as that terra forming device implying it was the device that brought her to life though maybe the regeneration part of her DNA helped in some way.

I loved how the Doctor kept looking back at Amy and Rory with guilt all over his face as he put the pieces together.

Was a bit slow at points, but the payoff was awesome. Yes we all saw it coming, but the way it was done was just fabulous, and I actually had a teary moment.

And the fact that being conceived in the TARDIS makes you part Time Lord... AWESOME :)

Loved it, and even the fact that River's identity was obvious for ages didn't spoil it--let's face it given the internet and Who fans bouncing ideas off each other it'd be hard not to figure it out, It'll be interesting to see what my less fanboy/girlish friends think.

I'm so glad I didnt know about the title to ep 8, sometimes its great to not know everything in advance!

Anyway, Cybermen, Sontaran nurses, sexy lesbian lizard women, Amy, Rory, River, eyepatch women, colonel runaway, Laura, didn't see the flesh baby coming and Matt fucking awesome Smith....

Yeah I think I liked it :techman:

Could the Doctor save anybodys life, by going back in time to the night they were conceived, somehow tricking the parents into having sex in the TARDIS (whilst its in the Time Vortex), then leaving them to live there life, exactly as they had done, but when it comes time for that person to die, they would instead regenerate, and problem solved?

Of course, if RTD wrote about an inter-species lesbian couple people would be complaining about "agendas" again...

Well, there was also the couple of gay Marines earlier in the episode, so the "gay agenda" is back with a vengeance, I'd say. By the way, that was one of the many funny moments in the episode, too bad 'the fat one' became a Headless Monk. :( I hope he'll be rescued in some way.
This was really well written, with a lot of great character moments. But it will hinge on how it's resolved so I opted for the second option.
It's hilarious they really went along with the title. Can Moffat get any more cheeky?

I do like the idea that River is a human version of a timelord and not a gallifreyan timelord, I wonder if she has any unique abilites the Doctor doesn't have and that explains why the Doctor never knew she was a Timelord in her own right like he can sense with the Doctor.

I absolutely loved this, fanwank completely but fantastic fanwank. I hope everyone caught the Omega symbols on the flags!!!

So how come River died without regenerating in the Silence in the Library 2-parter? Admittedly, I do not recall the circumstances surrounding her death.

Aside from the tongue gag, I cracked up most at the "really, you should call her mommy, not big milk thing." line

Maybe she'd used up all her regenerations? And didn't she say the Doctor wouldn't survive the process either, that he wouldn't regenerate, at the time?

I didn't!! Holy shit!

Brilliant. Amazing. Gay agendas return was a bit of a let down but it was cool ep.

I don't believe it for a second. We've learnt not to trust you, Moff. Lol. Great ep though, still not convinced. too convenient that it should turn out to be amys daughter at that moment. Evil plans are being forged and it ain't that simple. basically I think river is that flesh or at least linked to the evil baddies, this version of river anyway, is not the river we see with Rory in stormcage. Afterall, the baby was fake. I think She told the doc one thing (possibly that she was his mother or daughter. His reaction wasn't exactly the reaction youd expect given the circumstances) and Amy another. Eye patch lady is playing both sides. That's my theories anyway, for now.

Edit: not daughter, meant to be lover. Stupid iPhone auto correction.

Basically, Moff again answers one question with ten more questions and a vague answer that could be different from both sides POV.

I need sleep.

River states that the procedure would burn out both the Doctor's hearts so he could not regenerate before she took his place. We all know why she did it though apart from caring about the Doctor he had to live to save her someday. It does seem ironic though that she saves the 10th Doctor but could well end up killing the 11th Doctor if the season opener is anything to go by.

Also I've heard of Omega before in passing on this forum and having limited knowledge of Classic Who, what exactly is Omega ?

Gay agendas return was a bit of a let down

So everytime Who mentions a gay character its an agenda? well then all of TV has a hetrosexual agenda then. They appear because gay people are common just like Hetrosexual people.

I noticed how the Doctor mentioned it took billions of years for regular Gallifreyans to turn into timelords, yet all it takes for a human to become a timelord is to be conceived in the TARDIS during flight. Maybe the Doctor loves humans for reasons that he didn't even realize.

Anyone catch the bit about the soldier gal from Forest World (or whatever) having met a different Doctor? 'Cause he didn't remember her, and the running bit was just the most obvious thing to say, as he does that with everybody.

I wonder if he knew her in the future, so like River he meets her first on the day she dies, maybe she is Rivers daughter ;)

Sorry.

I cracked up most at the "really, you should call her mommy, not big milk thing." line
That was funny. It also harkened back to stories like The Lodger (where the Doctor communicates with a cat). Apparently the TARDIS's telepathic translation abilities have a very wide scope.

Omega is the name of the first Time Lord. He appeared in The Three Doctors (1973) and Arc Of Infinity (1983). In the former he had been stuck in an anti-matter universe since the creation of the power source that gave the Time Lords their abilities. Omega, of course, is Latin for "last" or "final". Just saying.

True. Also, it could be later in his timeline, or he could simply have forgotten. Whatever the explanation, it was a poignant scene.
