Awesome technology that mind link to ganger thing. It even works through time and different pocket universes.

Liked the episode. Better then last weeks, and I liked that as well after a second watch through.
Only now I have to rewatch it again (the whole season) to go look for all the clues about Amy's true nature. :vulcan:

Okay, BlastHardCheese, the ganger Amy is not sentient, not like those other gangers. The fact that she was feeling the contractions is evidence enough of that. And don't argue the clot, both of the Cleaves had clots.

Okay JRoss, you're completely missing my point. I don't need to argue the clot because like you, I was smart enough to recognize that the clot was also a replication.

The gangers of the digging crew gained independent life when the electrical storm hit. Before that, they were just like remote probes controlled via a mental link. Like Amy's ganger was. All it would take in the show would be some electrical discharge plot device to turn the Amy ganger into a new and separate Amy with the old Amy waking up in that chamber.

Of course they didn't take this route, but the episodes did make a very strong point that gangers have the right to independent life, regardless of whether or not they've been "awoken" by outside influence.

BHC, I'll concede that my tone was too aggressive for a polite forum, and I apologize. I'm certain that we'll have to just disagree on this point.

I really didn't care for that one. The first part started off strong, but the whole episode just fell apart during part two. I loved the idea of the slave race, but the execution was simply not there. And that ending was just ridiculous, and no I'm not referring to Ganger Amy.

Why did Ganger Doctor and Lady Foreman sacrifice themselves to hold that door? The Doctor had a freaking weapon that killed Jen in a single shot and they stood outside that door for five fucking minutes saying goodbye. Open the door, shoot Jen, and then hop in the TARDIS. And how about that guy who sacrificed himself to lock the first door? Maybe telling him that they had a weapon to kill Jen would have been a nice thing to do before he needlessly sacrificed himself.

A sad loss.
O no. Don't go. We'll miss you. How sad.

Meh.

I would like to add; don't the let the door hit you on the Dalek on the way out.
I'm not leaving the site you idiot, I'm just not going to watch NuWho anymore. It's gone really downhill. Worse than when RTD was running it.

Oh and there's no reason for you guys to act like a complete cunts either, but what did I expect from this forum in it's current state. Sort out your attitudes guys, there's no need to be rude

Fine, if you don't like Doctor Who in it's current incarnation then that's your opinion. Just say it sucks and move a long but don't expect to bitch endlessly about how bad the show is then stomp out of the room only to return to complain some more.

I gave it an average, as I did last week with part 1 iirc.

The main story (i.e. up to the cliffhanger ending) just didn't grab me. One good thing I will say is that I was glad the whole ganger vs. human war wasn't played up as much as it could've been. However, between the cliche who-is-the-real-Jennifer and/or Doctor scenes, the predictability of the Doctor switch, the extra sonic screwdrivers appearing out of nowhere, the all-to-easy death of characters who had served their purpose, the gratuitous use of a kid, the dangling story line about the rescue shuttle and the easy "you're human now and here's a cure to your blood clot" out at the end, this really didn't strike me as a particularly strong episode.

Plus, I keep having a hard time catching some dialogue each week. For example, the opening Ganger!Doctor monologue. With all the screaming and voice changes I couldn't make head nor tails of it. Thanks for filling me in on the fact that it was supposed to be previous Doctor incarnations surfacing. I went back to listen to it again, and this time around I caught some lines.

The ending was surprising, to me at least. I hadn't been spoiled. I'm curious enough to see where they go with this, so at least this episode accomplished that. Btw, I don't think it has been mentioned yet in this thread, but there is a short prequel to episode 7, which can be viewed on YouTube (or on the BBC site if you're in the UK). There's an interesting line in there for those people who were trying to figure out who the father of Amy's child is.

I thought it was a bit better than last week, so ... average. Given how bad I thought last week's was I wasn't really looking forward to this episode. As it was, I had to watch it in 2 pieces because I was so bored half way through.

Was it just me or was a lot of the dialog really hard to hear? I feel like I missed half of what they were saying; they were either talking too fast or mumbling.

Brilliant episode, despite a blooper or two (there are two Sonics in the middle of the episode)

Yeah, I noticed that too. Continuity, what's that?

Also was there a reason why the screw driver could not lock the door so they could all get away?

The sonic seems to work on just about anything, unless it's convenient for it not to. Like here for instance. Not to mention they all had plenty of time to get in the TARDIS before the Jenny thing got there.

Just when did the Doctors have time to swap shoes?

It seems to me that the Amy ganger was their one link to the real one. Now that the Doctor dissolved that, where does he even begin to look for her?

The only bit that elicited a little bit of a  was the Doctors magic solutions at the end. "Da-dah, you're human now! Oh, and I just happen to have a cure form brain clots right here under the console. Oh, and have a balloon."

Yeah, that part made me  too. And makes the fact that he couldn't save a supposedly drowning Rory a couple of weeks ago stand out even more starkly.

The best part was the surprise ending. I'm looking forward to next week's at any rate, at least it's Moffat-written so it has to be better.

Yes, this^. I basically agree with most if not all of that.

The actor's quirks and mannerisms sure did stick with me

Is this TNZ?

Nah, flouncing in TNZ tends to be more entertaining.

Anyway, I thought it was great. Matt Smith showed some nice range, and any time both the Doctor and his ganger were together was fantastic. The cliffhanger you could kind of see coming, but it was still good all the same.

I loved it. I especially loved how Rory empathized with the Ganger-Jennifer and they didn't beat you over the head with explaining why.

How utterly charming of you.

I personally think that given the wording of the above post you have no right what so ever to complain about rudeness.

Not to mention that Cap Pickirk told someone to F-Off when he made his announcement that he was giving up on the show. I don't understand why he keeps responding. Just leave the thread and go if that's your intention.

Cleaves had her headache. The Doctor seemd to intuitively know that it was a blood clot. She said, "Inoperable?" He said, "On Earth, yes." Which led her to realise he wasn't from Earth, and wasn't a weather inspector like he claimed to be at the beginning.

The Doctor new because he sat and scanned her with his sonic screwdriver, it wasn't intuition.

They really need to rename the sonic to Tricorder.

The tricorder is not sonic. ;)

And I like that it's supposed to be a futuristic screwdriver that the Doctor keep tinkering with and adding all kinds of options and functionalities. I think it's a very 21st century concept. The sonic screwdriver is as much a screwdriver as the iPhone is a phone.

Well, gee, you said you were going, we were happy not to have to put up with your, uh, comments for a while... and here you are. Nice.

Looks as if a few of you have been misbehaving. ;)

Call this a temporary time out whilst things are reviewed....

Infraction for flaming. Comments to PM

No further infractions will be given, but those of you who had to keep teasing Pickirk ... don't exactly give yourselves a pass. :vulcan: That doesn't help matters at all. Even if you feel someone has been causing a problem in the expression of their views, let the moderators know about it. Take it in stride and don't add to the tension.

pregnant and in labor with the implication that she has been raped (forced pregnancy on an unwilling or unknowing host is still rape, regardless of the method).

People on LJ seem to read the episode this way, but I think we can be pretty sure it's Rory's kid as a result of their honeymoon!

I really can't see within the context of what show this is and when it's on that in the schedule, how anyone can think that this is somehow a storyline that involves the rape of Amy. It baffles me.
