Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

I have a feeling that it is Amy' daughter (who is somehow Timelord-ified by time travel) who also turns out to be River.

That was a good episode but I'm a little pissed that so little was explained. I guess I'm used to the RTD era of mostly self contained two parters. I feel like so very little was resolved from the opening ten minutes of the season. We still don't know who the girl is. We still don't know why the Silence had her. We still don't know why she killed the Doctor. We still don't know how the Doctor survives. We still don't know why he sent the Companions back to witness his death. We still don't know why the damaged Silence Tardis was in the "The Lodger". We still don't know how/why the Silence detonated the Tardis in the season finale...

I also thought it was funny that the Doctor didn't attempt to make a sweep of the Tardis to make sure there weren't any Silence on board. Seems important to me.

Pretty much agree with you on all points. I too, was disappointed that we didn't learn more, but I'm also content to watch and wait and see it all unfold. If we get a full disclosure by the end of this season... I'll be happy.

And the TARDIS in The Lodger is suddenly explained. Dead Silents, abandoned ship looking for a pilot. Wow, that's a callback.
I was thinking that, perhaps, it wasn't empty and abandoned.
It just appeared that way because nobody remembers seeing anyone inside of it.

Great...*ANOTHER* race that has been influencing human history all along! How many is that for Who now? 4? 5?

Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

Well shes obviously at least part Timelord. You cant say much more than that. Amy holding the baby doesnt mean its hers. Its almost too obvious to end up being the real explanation. River could be the mother, or the girl could be a full Timelord and neither Amy nor River are the mother. Maybe she gets her reddish looking hair from the Rani or is the Rani! (Not likely though ;)). Its certainly a very good thing to drop in there to be resolved later. Looking forward to how this all gets resolved.

Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

She is the child of the Lodger, think about it.

Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

Crazy, whacked out theory time...

Amy's child is River (obviously, it's her child with Rory, otherwise, well, to put it bluntly, ew). She was suffering from what the Silents/Silence (still not sure which one it is) did to her and somehow, traveled in time to 2011 (not sure how, that's the crazy part), where she found a way to absorb the Doctor's regeneration energy and use it (not sure how, that's the whacked out part of this theory. For now, let's just assume that Amy being pregnant in the Tardis and picking up artron energy made her able to absorb the regenerative energy). So she returns to July 1969 and uses the energy to escape from the suit, except between the energy and the suit, she can't survive long without help, and, in October 1969, she regenerates into another incarnation.

But, since she's not fully a Time Lord, she can't pull that trick again, though she can somehow travel in time (River has mentioned that she's a time traveler before, but we've never seen any indication of how, other than with the Doctor). Eventually she leaves the 20th Century and travels the universe towards her destiny with the Doctor.

Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

As we saw in "The Lodger," the pseudo-TARDIS needed a pilot.

Clearly, the Silents were doing something to the girl to groom her into becoming a TARDIS pilot. The spacesuit was keeping her alive. It may have been doing something to her DNA, like adding the Rassilon Imprimature (see "The Two Doctors") which makes time travel possible.

She may be Amy's daughter, or she may be someone else. Probably the former. But how the Silents got their hands on Amy's daughter, I don't know.

Above Average for the episode and the 2 parter but OMG the last 15 minutes were excellent but I thought the start of the episode was a little jarring coming off the cliffhanger. Were left with more questions but thats good because its only the season starter and the scan Positive/Negative WTF :wtf:. I loved how the Doctor defeated The Silence but no doubt they will be back or maybe they were just agents of the silence and not the actual big bad. I assume that River was a version that won't see The Doctor until the Library where she dies.

and that ENDING  OMFG what  I need answers.

A little suggestion for the poll...In Need of a regeneration, Below average, Average, Good and Fez's are cool :p

Utterly brilliant....that 45 Min's just zoomed by...so many questions..talk about keeping us on the edge of our seats for the next 6 weeks.

Didn't Doctor Donna say that there can't be a human-timelord hybrid?

I'm not familiar enough with Doctor Who, but can the current showrunner (Moffat) just override stuff established by the previous showrunner (RTD)?

And later gets locked up for killing the Doctor? Is that who she kills? River is in that Astronaut suit? Was adult River just playing dumb during all this then? Wouldnt she remember her childhood? Her time in the suit, her regeneration? She gets back into it as an adult or that was still the child who shoots him?

Hmm. I dont know.

Re: Holy cow! Warning Series 6 ep. 2 Spoilers!

That makes me think its probably not River.

Maybe a regeneration is the only way that a human-Time Lord matter crisis could work. The Consolation Doctor was created due to regeneration energy after all, so Donna presumably didn't get any of it.

Just read review on Telegraph and I really wish these hacks would get fired for not watching properly...
For example, I presume that the mysterious markings on Amy, River and Rory were a tally count of meetings with the Silence, but as this was never explained it can only remain as that, rather than a solid affirmation, and there was probably too much of this sort of thing going on this week.

Erm they clearly stated the markings were a counting system FFS what the hell were you watching, you remember you are a paid critic? TWAT

The ratings might be affected by the weather again and 6pm start + a lead in show, which as been hammered as one of the worst BBC shows EVER. Still waiting for the finals from last week (taking your sweet time BARB) but I expect it to be over 7 million last week so similar overnight numbers and finals will probably occur this week.

The share % is the important number and for the BBC the AI index too, which was a very high 88 last week despite the complaning in the press and here, the fans seemed to like it.

BTW when the Doctor looked at Amy's scan it alternated between preggo and not preggo. i think it's like Schrodinger's Cat; because of her time travel experiences, the pregnancy exists in a state of quantum uncertainty between two states.

Is she really Amy's daughter? I saw some interesting theories that the Silence used their proto-TARDIS to take her back in time, where she had her daughter, and then made her forget, which is why she's no longer pregnant in the current time and that's what's confusing the TARDIS scanner.
That thought crossed my mind too.
