Well said, Aridas. I'd like to add that Matt Jefferies wasn't an idiot - he knew what he was doing, and it all still holds up very well after all these decades. He had on the order of days, weeks, or months to figure things out, not 60 years - so I think we can cut him some slack on any inconsistencies. Plus, I would think that creator's intent would take some precedence with people today, but his thought-processes seem to be continually ignored.
As for the turbolift nubbin on the back of the bridge, in all these years I've been on the TrekBBS, I don't recall seeing anyone suggest the most obvious fix - move the nubbin 50ish degrees to port. We know the real-life reasons why the nubbin is where it is, but it probably should be moved. I'm usually a purist, but this is the only thing I would change to the model, the rest of it is perfect as-is.
