BTW, looking at that:
Did they go back to Utah? I would think some scenes have to take place there, but it doesn't indicate if they were filmed back then or if they had to film them later

It would've made been far more economical to do everything there at once, if at all possible (and given how timey-wimey this particular plot is, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the finale was written well in advance). Also, some people saw some footage either from a Confidential or a BBCA making-of special for the first episode which showed them filming a scene that appeared to be from the last episode (or, at the very least, wasn't in the final cut of the premiere).

At least one additional scene, or should I say an alternative point of view of a scene from The Impossible Astronaut was shot in Utah at the same time as the scenes for The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon. Other scenes may have been shot then as well, but that alternative point of view of a scene is one that is definitely known about because a BBC America special showed them shooting it.

Pretty good episode. Sure, the ending was lame and the plot was bogus, but who cares? The episode was about the interactions between Craig and The Doctor which did not disappoint. Nothing else was required.

I'm hoping a Craig episode each year becomes a tradition.

I'm giving this a Time After Time, which may be erring on the side of generosity. The buddy movie aspect was delightful, the dialogue was whip-sharp and quotable, and Matt Smith gave a stellar performance, pretty much completely bereft of any sense of artifice. There was also the sense of foreboding, which I thought was handled exceedingly well.

However, the resolution to the cybermen plot struck me as old-school preposterous and just stupid. Smith acted the hell out of it, though, even channelling Nine from The Doctor Dances. ("Just give me this!" or words to that effect.) Kudos to James Corden for ably supporting Smith throughout the episode, too. Looks like they had a blast doing it.

The other place in which it loses stock with me is in the thickly-laden melodrama of the River/Kovarian scene. The latter should just grow a moustache so that she can twirl it. Muahahahahaaaa!

Exactly so.

Its pretty obvious given the three month jump between Amy shooting the Melody the girl Astronaut in Cape Canaveral and the scooby gang getting sealed in that black room in Area 51. There's also the question of how Canton Everette Delaware III was not surprised that the Doctor dies at Lake Silencio and knew to bring a can of gasoline.

Loved it, "Timeless!" A+

Coulda done without the gay "partners" joke though, that was a bit heavy handed, and went on for too long, quite pointless to the story

Otherwise, fun episode

Preview looks awesome for next episode

Aren't most jokes "pointless" though and meant to invoke humour? They don't always have to be relevant to plot or story. In this case I would disagree with you Brent as the gay/partner/companion joke was very relevant to the humour of the Doctor and Craig's dynamic.

Oh, meant to say re the Cybermat - it'll be a crime if they don't market one. It was so obviously designed as a toy (which normally would be bad, but since I really want one, it's not)

It feels like a joke that has been used for the last 20 years. I have nothing against it, I just didn't find it overly fresh or all that well handled. The Companion vs. Partner aspect was nice, but that's about it.

If I was the Doctor and I was about to die, living the life i had led, I believe that of all te companions that I would visit for one last chat would have been Jamie.

Who'd barely remember you? ;)

I think it'd be the brig or Sarah Jane :(

Yeah, I just had a flashback to Joey and Chandler taking baby Ben out to try and score with chicks and being mistaken for lovers

4/5. A decent romp. Great characterization. The Cybermen were there just as an excuse to give the Doctor and his Buddy something to do to impress the baby. But, I had fun watching it and there were some very touching moments. Overall, well done.

However, I'm getting tired of these emotional solutions. You know, if you feel the correct emotion (or avoid the incorrect emotion), you solve the problem. Basically, it's a cheap way to resolve the story without technobabble. Tired of it, no more please.

Mr Awe

A weak plot but a fun episode nonetheless, mostly due to the partnership of Smith and Corden. It's odd though, because my favourite little thing about the ep was the direction of the out-of-order lift teleporter scene, it looked fantastic, especially the transition and the close-up. But then my least favourite thing was the direction in the scene with River Song. It just seemed like it was the end of a long shoot and the Director just wanted to do one take and have it over with, there was no spark, energy or imagination to it.

OMG, Susan would be awesome for him to come visit again, he left her in the 22nd century right, he should travel there and say Hi.

Of course, its possible he snatched her up before or during the Time War, I guess we will never know. There was that one women in that episode a while back when the Timelords came back, we never knew her identity, I like to think it was Susan.
