I'm late to the thread but I wanted to comment simply because I loved the episode :techman: It gets 3 ZPM's from me and is up there as one of my absolute favourite SGA episodes. Any technical errors I can overlook because this episode was all about the characters. I've always like Rodney's sister and she was great again in this epiode especially in the first scene she has with Rodney. David Hewletts performance was brilliant and very moving, he had some wonderful scenes with all of the cast.

Well I just caught this episode late, but I have to say it wasn't that bad. Good to see Mckay and Jennifer hitting it off.

^According to Chuck Campbell they originally got Heineken beer in for that scene but Joe F refused to drink it (I can't blame him for that) and insisted they got Bud. Flanigan's family has connections with Anhauser-Busch.

Is that how he got the part? Rich beer family connections.

Looking forward to this episode from all the rave reviews it's been getting. Hopefully that awful, awful Keller isn't in it much.

I suppose it'd have to be something about the invisibility itself and not the function of the device, since when they retune the cloak into a shield (somebody read "The Physics of Star Trek" on staff), it continues to works after they exit the gate.

The jumper uses the cloak after it exits the stargate because it looks cooler from a VFX point of view. Simple as that really.

Um...well...maybe you want to skip this one...

Oh, you gotta be kidding me. Granted, it doesn't make a difference what they drank, but who friggin' cares? Would there really have been that much of a "scandal" if he was caught drinking another beer?

I did a really bad job of retelling that story, using the word "refused" was maybe a little strong and I kind of missed the point of it which was that they ended up getting an entire pallet of Bud delivered to the studio thereby making the cast and crew very happy that day.

I'm sure Flanigan has had his diva strops but I don't believe this was one of them.

I'll go back to only posting when I'm fully awake now.

Didn't you know? Beer is Serious Business!

And I take it she's still the whining, wussy, annoying little kid of a non-character that she's always been?

Surprisingly, no, at least not in this episode. For some reason, my DVR failed to record the program when it first aired, but I did catch the rebroadcast on Friday prior to the newest episode ...

... and I was immensely pleased with how "The Shrine" turned out. It was a really powerful character-driven episode. FWIW, I *highly* recommend it to other Stargate viewers.

This one gets a top-notch rating from your humble correspondent.

What a FANTASTIC episode. Forget Daedalus Variations, this was definitely the best of the season and probably the best for a long time in my opinion.

I even loved Keller in it, which is pretty shocking seeing as I couldn't stand her before. The last scene where she was playing the video of Rodney saying how he loved her: Perfect end.

McKay's sister is brilliant and should have been made a series regular.

Mr Hewlett (and Ms for that matter): wonderful acting. The bit on the pier was excellent.

Whoever edited and directed this episode deserves a big pat on the back. The flashbacks throughout and the overall pacing of the episode were top notch.

The story was simple but it worked perfectly, none of this over the top sillyness with the replicators etc, good storytelling with some nice visual effects and locations.

Ronan was great in it as well.

Fantastic. 3 ZPMs.

What have you done with our fluffy lovable Kp Nuts :p

It was very good and moving too, even though you know Rodney wouldnt die, it dosnt mean he didnt remind you of people you know who did.

As for the water in the gate, like someone else said earlier, there was still some air up a the top, if the gate had been completely submerged maybe the water wouldnt have come through, but only partially submerged I recon it would.

Another great episode, two in as many weeks. This shows that when they try, they can write good stuff. The story, the execution, the acting... all way above par.

I was worried they'd have to 'spice it up' with some Wrait fight but didn, loved the restraint. And I did wonder how they'd end it... because while we knew Rodney wouldn't die, it wouldn't be right for them to end it on a jovial note. So the ending was perfect.. because it kept a sensitivity to it, and totally changed Keller's motivations throughout the episode. Didn't see it coming at all.

A real triumph for the show.
