im going to say how I felt about all the other episode this series, this episode has all the right bits for a Doctor Who episode I would love, but somehow when put together, it doesnt work.

Technically good, and enjoyable enough, but missing something, could be that I dont really think much of the 11th Doctor, who can seem to be missing a personality at times.

Also Amys bedroom reminded me of the picture of Karen on a bed in another show, in less clothing, at one point she seemed to pose in the same fashion, we have also seen her with fairy lights before as well.

And what was all that about the Angels snapping people's necks instead of transporting them through time? That was never answered.

and, oh look, the 26th of June is a Saturday.

And of course it's the date the finale airs...

Or, if Eurovision gets in the way, the day episode 12 (the rumoured title of which was of course mentioned in this episode) airs.

About the Angels snapping nexks rather than timejumping people: I guess it's that they weren't yet strong enough to manipulate time like that, so had to resort to more basic methods.

More the other way around - they feed off the energy of the timejumped people, but thanks to the Byzantium's damaged reactor they had more than enough energy - no need to feed on people, so just waste 'em.

"Because it's fun, sir"

Wrong century. Daak is 26th-century. River is 51st-century.
River's a time traveller....

But, no, it's either obviously the Doctor or we're meant to think that it's the Doctor.
Unless it's Captain Jack...
I started wondering idly if Captain Jack is the person who taught River how to fly a TARDIS.

If you think about it, it makes some sense. Suppose that the Time Agency was actually a front for the Time Lords during the Time War? Suppose that the Time Lords wanted cannon-fodder, and they "leaked" tech to the human Time Agency. Perhaps it was a direct technology transfer, or perhaps the Time Lords engineered a situation where the Time Agency recovered a crashed TARDIS.

Time Agent Jack is 51st century. River Song is 51st century. Yes, it's a big century and a big galaxy, but I somehow see these two meeting. The galaxy's not big enough for both of them...

Of course, the thought of Jack and River together raises something interesting. Could River be responsible for Jack's missing two years...?

I posted this on GB earlier, half-jokingly but if others are running with it too...

Me said:
Could be Jack... this is the 51st Century after all. She kills "our" Jack (who comes back again, obviously) but the authorities think she killed the Time Agent poster boy ("a hero to many")... he gets mixed up in his own "death" and learns the truth about his upcoming immortality. The Doctor then has to wipe his memories... cue angry former Time Agent Jack trying to con two "amateurs" in WWII London...

A good ending to the two-parter, but it goes off on its own tangent and raises a lot more questions than it answers.

The Angels were sidelined, which was good really, it wasn't needed to overplay them. The ending really felt like the ending of Doomsday though:- We can't defeat our indestructible enemies, so lets just open up the nearest crack in reality and suck them all in while holding on to well placed handholds.

So... River Song is going to kill the Doctor, or we're just being led a piece of bait so big it wouldn't get swallowed up by one of those cracks.

As for next time, I'm looking forward to seeing this vampire episode, pretty much because it looks about as epic as vampire stories get.

That was a different Doctor that spoke to Amy after she had closed her eyes and he was setting off for the flight deck! I just went back to check, because I thought that was the case, and he has his jacket on!
Yep.

Oddly though, the first shot indicates that he his sleeves rolled up as when his arms come into frame there are no cuffs from his shirt of jacket.

Oh yes!!! That was brilliant. Fascinating as well. I have no problem with the episode asking more questions than it answers, those are the best kind of episodes because it means much like last week we can speculate wildly!!! I took it too that it was implied that River was referring to the Doctor. Complexities within complexities when it comes to River Song! I love Matt using David's "What?"s and River showing her um...desire for the Doctor at the end of the episode is interesting. I started thinking about the Captain Jack possibilty. The Pandoraica Ark is mentioned again along with the crack which we finally get more information about. So has it been confirmed yet that Alex Kingston is returning in the series five finale?? Or was that River just yakking? I can't wait for next weekend's episode...looks like the fun is about to really begin!!! Rory!!!

On rewatching I notice it's right that there does seem to be an alt Doctor in it - when he tells her to remember what he told her when she was seven, instead of stripey shirt cuffs he has bare wrists and is wearing the tweed jacket he lost earlier... I suspect this is the Doctor from later in the finale, having just visited young Amelia at the end of Eleventh Hour (and probably stopping off on Churchill's roof to open that door and prompt the ARP guy to shout)
