And I really need to resist the urge to come off as one of those know-it-all fanboy types.
Didn't like it much at all.
Watched it with a few friends and we all considered it the weakest thus far, with the first three stories descending from great to average to bullocks.
It seemed to try too hard and fail, coming across more camp than dramatic, Churchill especially. And how many Prime Ministers have the Doctor's direct line? Torchwood should have used that approach before. How quickly were those Spitfires suped up? In 30 minutes or less? It doesn't take the Germans long to cross the Chanel. And if they had those planes before, one night would have ended the war.
Can tapping into "the Secret" and warm fuzzy feelings really stop a Dalek bomb? There's a Dalek bomb now walking around WWII England. Is it really going to go walking around looking for its true love? Won't Chruchill just have his engineers reverse engineer it? If it does find Dora, will she love a Dalek bomb with a coating of skin? Or will she spurn it, thus making it blow up in a broken hearted burst of anguish? Couldn't the Daleks just reactivate it later even if they do find love?
Speaking of the Daleks, while I can understand them needing to re-image themselves in a pure form (new producer, new, transparent, stamp) they just look like top-heavey Fisher Price toys now.
And I'm not sure but I think there might be something to that crack that keeps appearing. I'm looking forward to next week's episode. Weeping stone statues and vast caverns provide plenty of places for cracks.

Agreed, I found it kinda stupid, I'm tired of it already, I get the point, humans are special our love and compassion will save us all yadda yadda. I was hoping the doctor would just quickly take him to the TARDIS and jettison him out into space, OR, maybe quickly take him up to the Dalek ship

lol, you'd think they would just have the bomb have no delay, hit button and BOOM, would be the smart thing to do
My question - How did the planes fly in space? They didn't show them with rockets or anything, instead, their propellers looked like they were turning and it made the typical propeller sound effect from an airplane, and they maneuvered just like an airplane, in spaaaaaaaaace
Oh, and how did they get laser guns all the sudden

Oh, and I agree, when he was hitting the Dalek I felt that scene, it was very intense, very good acting there all around on both parts, very good scene in the episode, very powerful

Bracewell talks about hypersonic flights & gravity bubbles, I assume this is the tech used for the spitfires.
Personally I want to know where the Progenitor came from?
And they somehow developed the technology, outfitted the planes and put it all together in a perfectly working state in 10 minutes, ooooooooooooooooooooo k
I agree it does not seem likely, but this seems to be how the episode explains it.
Bracewell calls them "musings" and at no point gives the impression he has a working prototype ready to be fitted to a spitfire.
Also how did the Doctor deactivate the Dalek shield? if he could control the Daleks ship from the TARDIS, why not set it to blow up, or cripple it, so the time jump couldnt happen.
Presumably, the "gravity bubble" created an environment around the Dalek ship in which the planes could maneuver. And fitting three planes with energy weapons would be a piece of cake for someone who has been building Daleks.

In other news... I liked this episode. Apparently not as much as the first two, 'cause I didn't re-watch it like I did those, but I still liked it.

For me, there was both laughter and tears at this, and both born of pure joy. I really enjoyed the episode, but would have voted "Geronimo" for the Space Spitfires alone. They rocked.
Fending off the Daleks with a biscuit, that sets up for a really good Doctor #10 comeback.

This could have been a brilliant 2-parter. As it is, it's just an ok-ish to good episode. Better than last week's though.
Fending off the Daleks with a biscuit is right up there with saving the Earth with a satsuma. That's not the kind of thing you're likely to see in any other series, and it's because of things like that that I love Doctor Who. I really don't care how Spitfires can fly in space.
That being said, I wasn't very impressed by Ian McNeice's performance as Churchill, and for some reason, the whole thing felt very claustrophobic to me. You wouldn't have to change much to play the script on a theater stage.

Both St Paul's and Buck Pal were bombed. The Chapel at the Palace was destroyed but the rest was minor damage. St Paul's was also hit by bombs, but the damage was minor or they didn't explode. The implication was it was the same night, but I can't find anything that said they were bombed together.
Here's what I think. The Moff plants tiny clues (like the above) as well as a couple of big obvious ones (Amy's memory re Daleks) to indicate we're not in Kansas anymore. Just watch carefully and you'll pick things up. For example next week, is River Song... our River Song?

I don't think the ARP helmet is one of those - there were numerous variants depending on what duties the wearer had (M for Messenger, for example) - I suspect that whatever change in timeline happened when Amelia met the Doctor.
Unless, given the Cybusmen, we're actually seeing Pete's World - but if that was the case we wouldn't need those new Daleks again.
I may have to downgrade my score on the grounds that a *real* Doctor would have done *both* when it came to the choice offered by the Daleks. Especially since he must have known they'd carry out their threat anyway.
Overall, average. Smith and Gillan were good, but the episode just didn't really grab me.
