Can't be AU surley because the history scan done by atraxi.

A history scan that showed the Ood and the Hath among the aliens that have threatened the Earth...

Anyway, as for me...

And victory it was!

Fabulous story that actually made sense within continuity, gave us cheery Quatermass and Where Eagles Dare refs, and some good stuff for the already-cemented-as-the Doctor Eleven. And the Star Wars movies must definitely be on a permanent loop at Upper Boat- I'm amazed nobody said either "Use the Force" or (this being Gatiss as the pilot voice as well) "They came from behind..." during the big spectacle.

Direction was good, and the score great, but there were some shabby-looking shots. I dunno if the fact that the extermination effect this time looked like the Remembrance version is deliberate, but it was cruder than the previous Nu Who ones. Also, I don't think we've seen some many shots where light shone through the gauze in Daleks' neck sections since the mid-80s, urgh.

Ian McNeice was great as a very well-handled Churchill, and Bill Paterson was good too.

The new Daleks' colours are fine. They actually looked good when viewed from the front at a low angle (a shot which really reminds me of the tunnel chase shots in Destiny), but when seen side on or from behind - urg. Utter shit. They have fucking *bustles* for fucks sake - that makes them look like the granny from Sylvester & Tweety! They'll be back, shouting "I tawt I taw a Doctor." And they wobble, which isn't unusual for any Dalek prop - but they do it deliberately - what's the point of that?

I'm assuming they'll be back in the finale or sometime soon, cos there seems to be some piece of equipment on the back of them, and I guess that's planned for something.

Other spoilerific bits - the crack again, which I was expecting. (I'm assuming we'll see it at the end of every story until the finale.)

Why does Amy not remember the Daleks? Obviously something's going on - I suspect that she's from a timeline that split off when she met the Doctor, as a child. Either that or it's all in her head. (if she's actually still a kid, then it may be the mid-90s and Rory's nurse ID has the right date on...) Either way I'm more and more certain that the TARDIS sound playing for little Amelia at the end of Eleventh Hour is actually a scene to be relived and expanded upon in the finale.

Anyway, great stuff apart from those issues related to the Dalek props. 10/10 and I'll probably watch it several times this week...

Totally brilliant, loved it, the new Daleks are just striking and seem more ominous looking than every as well as being bigger, brighter and bolder.......Loved it, 45 mins has never passed so quickly.

I really cant wait to see them in action again.

I am personally giving this a much deserved Geronimo!.

best episode so far, but still way too many questions.

How does making the bomb think its human, stop the bomb from going off again? gees that whole "remeber your humanity" spiel is getting old.

Moving on, the "progenitor" where exactly did that come from? something pre the time war? if these thing exist, how come the Cult of Skaro never tried to revive them? then again they would have had the same problem as the other Daleks. Was the "progenitor" protected from the effects of the Time War?

Cant say im one bit surprised when the newDaleks destroyed the old ones, even I know that differnt types of Daleks dont get along well.

Talking of the Daleks, somehow against all the odds, a ship always survives, dont know how. I assume those Daleks are ones cloned from Davros, so as clones of a Klead, they dont seem to be that impure.

Had to laugh at the space spitfires, in the same way I did the flying bus, its either that or cry.

I thought it was corny and ludicrously over-the-top; very weak on narrative. However, Smith was commendably good and Gillan was great (again). The plot point about Amy not remembering the Daleks is intriguing, too.

Utter drivel, couldn't stand it. Not a patch on the last two weeks. You could replace Smith and Gillan with anybody and tell the exact same story, there was none of the spark, the wit of the previous two. And the story was generic, boring, and devoid of mystery from 12 minutes in. The setting was completely irrelevant to the plot, and I'm really, really sick of the Daleks. Give em a rest, for crying out loud. They drag them out more often than Stargate do the Replicators.

Saving grace? name-checking Budgens. Worked there when I was at school

I'd have to agree with cultcross there, though perhaps more forgiving for my part. The spark definitely seemed missing, with everyone seeming only to be walking around to fulfill the directions in the script. Plus, if you're gonna bring back the Daleks AGAIN, you need to give something more interesting to do than get a new paint job.

What a completely horrible storyline. This has nothing on the first two episodes.

All it had was an annoying Churchill who was even fatter then normal portrayals. A stupid plot about a human time bomb that doesn't even explode in a timely manner and is easily shut down....... by a crap reason.

Airplanes that can somehow travel from London to Earths orbit. I don't normally nitpick Dr Who but how the hell does plan fly? How did it get there so quickly?

Oh well. Next weeks episode looks good.

This episode got a 'good' rating from me, and just barely.

It's funny, I loved last weeks episode, and people here seemed to be so-so about it. And this one I'm not crazy about, and yet it sounds like the majority of you really loved it.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

First dud of the series. Having seen The Idiot's Lantern today too (review in pipeline), they both seem to have pedestrian plots in common. The shine's rather worn off Gatiss for me. All quite predictable. And then there were some quite silly things. Talking the bomb into not being a bomb was just daft. And the best the Daleks could do by means of attack was to turn the lights on? The nonsense about how the old Daleks survived and the new ones were created was RTD-level bad too.

Worse still, the new Daleks look even worse in motion than their pictures. Like Fisher Price dodgems. Seeing these plastic toys that look like they'd fall over in a strong wind destroying the previous brilliant design was awful. Churchill was more like Mr Granger from Are You Being Served? than Churchill. And too fat.

Had some good moments though. The first ten minutes were genuinely fun, and the more I see of Smith the more I love him in the role. The Jammy Dodger bit was fun. Still, compared to the previous episodes, this was a real disappointment.

Turn the lights on and the Luftwaffe can see everything when they come and bomb London, the Daleks knew they didn't have the ability to destroy London themselves, but they could make it one great big target instead of just guessing where everything was.

I rather enjoyed the episode, had a few fun parts and a few interesting questions which may or may not be addressed in later episodes.

Yes, thank you, I understood that. So they somehow have the power to control all the lights in London, but can't fire down an actual weapon or something?

I'll say this for the episode though: it absolutely flew by.

I assume that was with technology developed by the robot professor, my own question is, how did he get them upgraded so quickly?

and enough with the Scottish stuff, gees its like Moffatt is writing this stuff in, for no other reason than to wind up the folks at Galifery Base.

Then what's your issue with it. Why on earth would the Daleks need to waste all that fire power to destroy London when they knew that if they lit the city up like a christmas tree the Luftwaffe would be able to target where ever they wanted. To be honest, it was a lot better than the Dalek's commencing orbital bombardment and watching the city burn.

Everything up until the Daleks being Daleks great. The rest was a bit 'off'.

I guess it's official that Amy fancies The Doctor now >: (
