Heeheehee. That's funny.

Something akin to what the Who spin off's did with an audio/book/comic range where each Doctor got a new story, but in this case with each Trek series getting one new adventure (I know Trek doesn't really do auido, but perhaps S&S could put out something similar to the Destiny of the Doctors series that were just a read story by a surviving cast member?).
But most of all, a good film.
Don't hold your breath. It seems a licensing issue is preventing the novels from incorporating anything substantial from the new movies. 2386 is gonna be a long year in the novelverse.Danlav05 said:* BOOKS: Similar theme but there'll probably be a Typhon Pact/The Fall-type mini series - I wonder if by then they will have caught up with the destruction of Romulus?Click!
Enterprise Season 5.
Star Trek premiered on NBC on Thursday, September 8th, 1966.
I'd love to see NBC replay The Man Trap on Thursday, September 8th, 2016, exactly 50 years to the minute after it first aired, non-remastered version, complete with all the original commercials that aired during that hour.
Of course that will never happen, so instead I plan to cue up The Man Trap and hit the play button at exactly 8:30PM on that night, and will drink a toast to the greatest television show that has ever been produced, something that has meant so very much to me for most of my life.

I suppose it's too much to hope they'll just forget about Hobus, and continue on as normal? I can live with there being a poorly written alternate timeline being explored in film, but I really wish they hadn't blown up Romulus to achieve it. So as long as we're doing alternate timelines, let's just say it doesn't happen in the novelverse. How do we know Nimoy-Spock in XI is even from the prime universe to begin with? Maybe he's from the timeline where Voyager took longer to get home, or the one where Worf and Troi are married.

Simply put, the Party Line from Paramount is that Spock is from the Prime Universe and Pocket Books has to follow what the Party Line says is canon. But since Bad Robot doesn't want Pocket anywhere near their stuff, it'll be awhile before we get to 2387.
Hell, Nimoy's listed in the credits as "Spock Prime" and that's where the term "Prime Universe" originated.

OK, well maybe it'll turn out at that Romulus only appeared to be destroyed, but was actually thrown into a pocket universe by a time traveler in a blue box. Stranger things have happened in Star Trek.
I can't help but feel that everyone who thinks TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT are going to be included in the 50th anniversary for TOS might end up disappointed.
Especially with 2015 being the Voyager 20th anniversary and 2017 being the TNG 30th anniversary respectively.
But I remember when the 30th anniversary was going on the whole franchise was being celebrated. For a huge milestone as the 50th anniversary I think we'll be seeing all of the shows represented.
For IDW's comics, maybe a series that brings all Trek shows together, even including the Abramsverse. Something like their Doctor Who Prisoner of Time series they did for the anniversary, but hopefully better written.

I like your audio idea, but I'd much rather they go full-cast. From your username I'm guessing you know about the sterling work that Big Finish do (in fact, I think I've seen the samename on Gallifreybase...?) and their full-cast Stargate SG-1 plays really worked a treat. There's no reason that Trek couldn't work in a similar vein. Pick a show, set the story during it's TV run, get minimal regular cast members in, and away you go.
Its probably not as simple as that though...
