3D interiors in Blender

Small update as I didn't have a lot of time to work on this today, but I modified my existing LCARS map for the new screen. I struggled with what name to put on the screen itself, given that it's a static element to keep with the style seen in the rest of the ship. After trying stuff like "Command Level Access Terminal" and "Starfleet Command Uplink", I went with the more generic option of just having the name of the ship.

@137th Gebirg: Thanks!

@Jedman67: That's what the hidden compartment on the table between the sofas is for. ;)

I redid the window so it isn't just a rectangle, I made it an irregular octagon with two support beams going across it, I think it's a bit more interesting now while still fitting the style. I also modeled some more props, most notably those large illuminated PADDs from Nemesis. I also purchased a spyglass and a fancy-looking wooden box to add more variety. I might still model a few more things as there's plenty of empty space on the shelf behind the desk.

i think i liked the simplicity of the other window more, and the new one dividied into trapezoids gives me star destroyer vibes XD

but it's your rodeo, of course

@korblborp: I'm not 100% sold on it to be honest, I have been playing with it and might tweak it some more. The divisions and overall shape are based on the holoship window from Insurrection, which was later reused (flipped 180 degrees) for Janeway's office in Nemesis. Plus all the quarters windows on the Enterprise-E have divisions too, so that's what led me to add them in the first place.

Tweaked the window a bit more, kept the overall shape but the sides have less of an angle so the overall shape is a bit more square-ish. In total I've done 5 versions of the window now, this is the final one.
I also added a generic handheld console in the empty space at the back of the desk, my thought was that it might be some sort of security device for the Admiral to place a credential for certain communications or stuff like that. Also I really didn't want to model more stuff after all those windows. :p

I think I'm calling this one done now, gotta do some final checks like properly UV map the carpet and such, but it's 99% finished.

@Firebird: Thank you so much!

@Jedman67: lol believe me they'd need a lot of work to look good on VR 😂

Just like that ready room was an old concept that was gathering dust in my drive, I have literally dozens of rooms that I started, worked a few days on, and then dropped. On seeing several I just went "why didn't I finish this?", I guess that's the ADHD manifesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So for a while I'll be tackling some of those, which hopefully will have a fast turnaround. First one that got my curiosity again was the USS Pride sickbay. Like all Pride interiors, it's a redress of a Potemkin one as they're both Excelsior-class ships. The idea with Pride is that it was a Dominion War-era refit, so it incorporates the color palette from the Defiant and more DS9/Voyager-era props than TNG.

I haven't even started work on this now, so all you see here is how I left this room months ago. My idea was to change the look as much as possible without touching the layout. I'm posting the same angles from Potemkin (first) and Pride (second) just so you can go back and forth between the images and get a sense of the changes. Obviously still very much in progress so it's on the empty side and the LCARS have a lot of different colors as I copy-pasted from other sets. I intend to do some new pieces for this, most notably the surgical shell for the main biobed.

I keep flicking back and forth between them and seeing the changes, brilliantly done!

Would the screen around the bio-bed act as a large LCARS panel during medical procedures?

@TOMFAN: We didn't saw that when the screen was used in early TNG (of course) but I can totally see it working like that and become more opaque like @Redgeneral suggested too.

I replaced most of the wall panels by more Defiant-ish ones, as well as the replicator to avoid reusing the TNG one over-and-over. I might tweak its design a bit more as it's a weird half-step right now. I also changed the main screen on the doctor's office, along some smaller tweaks.
