3D interiors in Blender

I remember reading that, when creating the new Enterprise bridge for TFF, Zimmerman was originally gonna just reuse the chairs from the refit Enterprise on the Ent-A bridge, but the actors (and Shatner specifically, as the director) requested more "normal" chairs, as it was hard to act out a scene while remembering to strap/unstrap yourself. I can't find the source for it though, so I might be miss-remembering.
I think that was in Lisabeth Shatner's book about the making of TFF. It was either forgetting to unlock the aluminum panels, or having trouble unlocking them, which then disrupted the action. You'll notice they never used them for their intended purpose after TMP.

@cardinal biggles: Ah, that must be it then! :)

I've finished the remaining LCARS, including the little chair screens. I've also changed the material for the command chair stands, to the darker beige used on the viewscreen wall. This material isn't as rough as the TNG wall beige material they had before, so it makes the stands look a bit more interesting.

That is fantastic!

Wish we'd had that on the show, the Ent-D looks pretty dull compared to that!

I bet Worf wished he had more room back there for a chair at tactical like that.
I dunno. I don't see Worf as someone who likes to sit down while on duty (unless he's in the captain's chair, which is more a formality). Standing desks being what they are in this day and age, I'd imagine Worf would be one of those guys at the office with a standing desk. Hell, I'm even thinking of requesting one. "Warriors do not sit," I could see him saying.

Anyway, great work, Rekkert!

I... honestly have no idea where each door goes. :p I would imagine the port side frontal alcove would be identical in door layout to the Ent-D, while the starboard one would have the emergency turbolift and either another normal lift, or a ramp to deck 1-lower. The doors at the back would go to an open area with access to a head and the conference lounge, plus another ramp.

I wanted to have a break from the TNG era as a whole to avoid more burnout, so a commission with just what I needed appeared last week:

Veeery early days, but this is the beginning of the bridge for the USS Avenger, a somewhat modified Crossfield-Class starship.

Nothing of this bridge will be a direct reproduction of the Disco bridge, but logically the aesthetics and features will be heavily based on it. Layout will essentially be identical, except for the wall directly behind the Captain, which will contain an MSD style graphic on this bridge. The consoles won't have physical buttons though, just screens.

At first I thought this was discovery but had to stop myself and wince. I realized it wasn't when I realized the consoles bend the other way.

Looking forward to seeing what you can do with this Rekkert! Someways down the line it would also be neat to see what this looks like on a brighter bridge.

Here's are the finished renders! I've tweaked the tactical console slightly, changing the black line across somewhat and adding a red label on the front.

I absolutely love this bridge. Awesome work as usual.

I've mostly been skimming this thread so this may have been said already, but I feel like the space behind tactical is just begging for a little standing conference table like they used on NX-01.

Very nice start, it should be fun to see a different aesthetic than the usual TNG and late movies that you've done before. I've got a small collection of screenshots of the UI if it would be helpful.

That works for me. Thank you.

And the new project looks like it will be a lot of fun.

@Norsehound: I know it's a bit dark at the moment, hopefully while I continue to add light sources it'll become easier to read. I'm aiming to have a similar level of light to the season 2 Disco bridge, so it'll certainly be brighter.

@Savage Dragon: Hmm... on the current layout there's no room for that on the back of the bridge... but dammit you planted an idea in my head and now I'll have to do a variation of that bridge with it...

@Donny: Thank you! Your work on STO is certainly proving to be very useful here. :D

@The Librarian: Thanks! Indeed, it'll be a nice change of pace. Those screenshots would certainly be helpful, feel free to share them! :)

I've added the basic shapes for the perimeter stations, plus a ton more lights.

Sigh... Just so you guys and gals don't think I'm organized...

@Savage Dragon's comment made me start thinking and working on a Voyager-inspired Akira-Class bridge, very similar to the Frontier but with a "pool table" at the back. Once I had everything in place I didn't like it, so I kept the modifications I had done to the front of the bridge, and pretty much cut the aft section of the bridge off (including the pool table that started the whole thing). This resulted in a much smaller bridge (similar in size to the original Odyssey), thus I'm making this a Steamrunner-Class bridge, specifically for the USS Appalachia we saw during First Contact.

Still some work to be done on the materials and LCARS, and as you can see I'm bringing several elements over from the Odyssey.
