3D interiors in Blender

I've done the small pattern on the walls, which was achieved using a displacement map, as a normal map certainly wasn't enough to achieve the effect here.

I've also tweaked the room structure somewhat, and started working on the vertical lights at the sides of the platform (the grid pattern is very temporary as I used it as a measuring tool).

FYI for those of you who don't know, the USS Galaxy's personnel transporter rooms have longer operator consoles than the Enterprise-D's. The reason for this is that it was an option requested by the crew; sometimes you need a second person to hold things together while transporting (such as during emergency situations). Not to mention it looks better with the back display.

@Matthew Raymond: Thanks! :) That's the magic of displacement maps, hahaha.

Finished details on back wall, plus started work on the side alcove. Plus, both the floor and ceiling got some attention. The ceiling lights are based on @Donny's transporter room like previously mentioned, but with the details from the Galaxy sickbay ceiling lights, to better tie the ship together.

I like how you've handled the ceiling!
[For some reason I stop getting notifications to threads and miss days of updates!]

The lighting in here seems brighter than than set shots from Enterprise... intentional for the Galaxy?

Not intentional, no. I actually proposed that Rekkert would change the bulkhead colors to that padding stuff that's in the sickbay (which is a darker aqua/turquoise color), may suit the interior better.

I admit (if I haven't said so already), I really like the grey/aqua scheme for the Galaxy. Seems prototypical and transitional from the late 2290s stuff into the warmer, humanistic TNG era.

I believe the AMT/ERTL kit painting guide referred to it as “duck egg blue”. And I agree, it was a good color for that generation of ships.

I think the color of the models ILM built also affected those. Most Starfleet ships from the TOS movies were painted that "duck egg blue", to make them easier to film. This is what lead to the unfortunate side effect of ships with lots of blue when they were then filmed with different equipment years later, or reproduced.
If you look at the Excelsior in Search for Spock, it's grey with dark grey panels, no blue accents whatsoever. However to get those greys on screen, the actual model was blue. When a new model was created for Voyager, all those panels were reproduced in dark blue. Something similar possibly happened with the Micro Machines.
I remember those blue Micro Machine ships puzzled the hell out of me when I was a kid hahaha. I still have them, though they sustained heavy damage in my childhood. ;)

Speaking of the Excelsior-Class... I needed a break from all the research and all the getting obsessed over the transporter room, so I wanted to create a quick new room. So, I've worked on the briefing room for the USS Potemkin.

I simply had the idea for it earlier today and I couldn't get it out, so it was better to just do it haha. I'm pretty happy considering I spent a total of 6 hours on it. Of course a lot of stuff is simply reused, the only new bits are the table (recognize the shape?) and the cylindrical room itself.

I will add some final details to it tomorrow; like keypads, more details on the holoemitter at the table, and a new graphic for the screen showing the UFP logo, but overall, it's done. :)

Also, I'm going under the assumption that, just like the Constitution-Class, the Excelsior has an observation lounge that's more laid back on the back of the bridge, while the serious business is done in a separate briefing room located somewhere else on the ship (deck 2, I guess?).
