3D interiors in Blender

Definitely some of the best work you have done thus far! I still love the realism of those renderings. Top notch! :techman:

@Scribble: Thank you! :)

@Michael: Thank you very much! :)

I've done the main sickbay monitor, so the ICU area is now finished. Only the office LCARS to go!

@The Librarian: Thank you! :)

So, as I had previously mentioned, I'm one of the developers for Stage 9, an Enterprise-D reproduction done in Unreal Engine. This week we've released version 0.0.10, with a ton of new features, including the brand new bridge mesh done by yours truly to replace the older, less accurate version. It's pretty much the same mesh I posted about before, but optimized for use in a game engine. Both the texture work and lighting however are completely different, done by other members of our amazing team.

There's a lot that's brand new on this version besides the bridge, including a lot of buttons to press and places to go, here's the download page if anyone wants to give it a go (it's available on Windows, Mac, and Linux versions). There are a ton of screenshots there, but I'll post a few here:

Wow. :eek: And you even included Geordi's red PADD!

To me, I see it in the segmentation of the console lights. Please don't take that as an indictment of this amazing model. Such things are necessary for live-action games.

Indeed, some polygons had to go for the game version, but the level of detail is dynamic depending on your distance. So for example those segmented console lights or those cushions do look perfect if you go up close. With some further tuning on the next version, it'll look even better. :)

Last week I started a small commission that was a long time coming. A SFM user requested these hanging props to be done in 3D. There are 5 different patterns to these seen in two different episodes, 3 are completely seen, while 2 are only partially seen. The idea here is to create models that are as accurate as possible so that he can later recreate the props in real life using these as reference.

I've recreated the three versions that are fully seen. Two other versions from "Man of the People" aren't seen very clearly, so I'll be recreating those with my own patterns on the unseen parts.

Fantastic!

Please don't take our criticism of the game models as an indictment of your models. It's a necessary evil of real-time gaming.

@Scribble: Thanks! Oh yes I know, don't worry. :)

I've finished with the other versions. I did a special one with some LCARS to be sort of a hanging life signs monitor for the main biobed, something a bit different.

Meanwhile, I've started my next bridge commission, and this one is canon! It's also one of the weirdest ones... I'm just getting some elements together to start laying things down at the moment, but can you guess what ship it is?

Yup, Odyssey it is. For references, I'll be using pretty much all the set appearances (bridges of the Saratoga, Norkova, Prometheus, Odyssey, and Romulan Warbird). I found some set blueprints of the Romulan version (thanks @Redgeneral ), so that'll be my main resource when it comes to measurements. For the parts that were seen on screen, they'll be as accurate as possible to the set. For the viewscreen area however, we might extend it a bit and make it a bit more Galaxy-like. Otherwise it's a really cramped set with some forward consoles added in, considering that the Captain's chair is a lot closer to the viewscreen than on the Saratoga/Prometheus.

It goes beyond saying, any behind the scenes photos or info will be greatly appreciated for this one. This is the rough idea of it right now:

I realize the DS9 production crew wasn't able to use the Enterprise-D bridge because of filming on Generations, but that set seems so ridiculously cramped for a Galaxy-class starship -- and I rewatched "The Jem'Hadar," and you never see anything forward of the command area, you don't see the viewscreen or Conn/Ops -- that even though you know what the set blueprints are, maybe you've got some license to fudge with it.

edit: And I just restated most of what you already said. That's why I shouldn't post at 5:00 in the AM. :p
