Whatever happened to boldly going where no one has gone before? Discovering new civilizations, new worlds, new life?
What happened to Star Trek?
As far as I know, the moon is still the farthest anyone has gone so far, and we've yet to discover time traveling AI bots. As long as Star Trek is showing us the wonder of the unknown, I don't see the problem. The only thing that's odd story-wise is how often the Enterprise was called back to Federation space during its 5-year mission in uncharted space, but there is no such problem in this show. Discovery has been consistently focused on its mission the whole time.

How often does Trek go Boldly again? I'd say they're on par for most trek series right now.

For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you. Not mapping stars and studying nebula, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence.

Q says sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride.

There was a noticeable lack of Spock in that preview. Don't tell me they lost him again!
I rewatched some of the S2 trailers recently and there's a scene where he's debriefing Admiral Cornwell. I suspect it will happen in this next episode since we see her on Discovery standing by the conn when they get to S31 HQ.

I am sure he is in it. In that "Ready Room" interview Ethan Peck talks about working with director Jonathan Frakes.

Putting this here because it's spoiler spec based on S2 trailers and the previews so far. I think that Project Daedalus is going to be the RA suit prototype. Section 31 has been working on a personal DASH suit. Remember in the beginning Discovery could only jump small distances? Seeing the RA jump into Kaminar's atmo in small multiple bursts made me think of how unusual an effect it was. So what if S31 was experimenting with a spore jump suit (in S1 Starfleet was working prototypes even though there was only one tardigrade to navigate) and somehow stumbled upon the time jumping properties too.

The bad AI from the future (either a mutated CONTROL or an alien AI which resents the Federation) sends the hacker program via altered probe to try to destroy S31 before it can complete the project maybe?

Eh, it's not perfect, but I like the idea of connecting the RA suit with the spore tech.
