25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the symbolic end of the cold war.

I was an Army brat living in Germany when the wall went up, and I was a serving member myself posted to Germany when the wall came down.

I wasn't born when the wall went up, and a know-nothing 19 year old kid when it came down.

Now, I'm 44, and still know nothing......

I was -9 years old when the wall went up, and in college when the wall came down. Good times! (The fall of the wall, I mean. Not necessarily the college part.)

I would have been in my last year of High School when the wall came down. Hard to think that was 25 years ago.

Took me a minute to understand. I was +11.

Today is also the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

Wow, 25 years. I still remember, I was sitting in the lobby at St. Margaret's waiting for the van to take me to the employee parking lot when I heard. Hard to believe that it's now something that they teach in history books.

It actually went up the year I was born.

True for some it's just a page in a history book and they never lived with it.

I was 5 at the time. I didn't register it back then, really.

Yup. And the end of the USSR a couple years later.

I was nine years old and had watched what happened in China. To see this happen was all kinds of awesome.

It was also the 25th Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests earlier this year.
