Oh yeah, something else... Mr. Adventure asked about the real time thing. This episode didn't feel like it was real-time. Jack and the kids got to the village 5 miles away (or was it kilometers) in no time. They even got from the bush right into town between the commercial break. Literally.
Real time? No, that was Bauer time, somethign we seem to see every season of the show. :D

That and I liked the Presidents' inaugural speech.
Ehh.... it wasn't bad to me. Seemed rather banal and predictable. But I like the intent at least.
The speech was good as far as 24 tradition is concerned. As far as realism is concerned, it was hokey and contrived.

Wayne will be the new spokesperson for Allstate Insurance commercials during Season 7!! LOL

Now what about the movie... I heard they wanted to set part of a season in Africa. Guess this was it. Back to the U.S. now right? I haven't been keeping up. Guess I'd better get reading. One thing bugs me though. Do we really need a new president? I would rather have had President palmer back along with his VP Powers Booth. Oh well.

It looks as if the leader of the recruitment survived the landmine blast. I caught a glimpse of him and a line spoken in that teaser. That implies we will spend some more time in Africa alright
I just hope that they don't break the "24 hour" format to bring us anything from Africa. You don't mess with the gimmick and I know they did consider doing this.
They won't. I remember reading an interview that the movie ended up being the producers' answer to how they can have the first portion of their story take place in Africa and then the second part back in the US without breaking the 24 episodes = 1 day concept.

Who else noticed the camera crew in one of the shots? When they're running in to the woods, trying to evade the helicopter near the river.. when they run in, there are two cameras visible! Not a very good editing job?

I'm really looking forward to seeing the new President in action next season. I really came to like the actress after her part in M. Night Shyamalan's Signs (and I think she's in The Village as well).

Btw, since this is a star trek board, did anyone notice that Brandon Braga is now on as a co-excutive producer and Manny Coto got bumped up to Excutive Producer (he was just a co in season 6) !! Last time i got to talk to Manny was during S6 when he was re-negotiating his contract with Fox, i'm glad he has moved uop the ladder a bit.

Alright guys, I'm out. It's been fun. I'm up to the final episode of The Sopranos on DVD which I'm going to go watch and I'm interested to see what I think of the ending as compared to the high level of criticism it received. I'm getting the impression this will be another story that won't have a full resolution...

I think the promotions happened when one of the other execs left/was fired. I can't remember his name though, but people sort of blamed the conservative focus of the show on him.

Then instead of Braga they should have gotten Shaymalan. "I see dead people" would take on a whole new meaning

Wow! 292 replies in under 3 hours!

A couple quick questions for next season...

- Where is Aaron Pierce? (was he in the preview?) He's the only character other than Jack to have survived ALL the seasons of 24.

- Tony looks like the Mirror Universe Tony....i wonder what that's all about...

We did a running commentary. It's fun. :)

I was underwhelmed. I liked it but, well, it felt like all set-up. Which is fine, I kind of like the "smaller plot" we'll see how it goes.

As for Aaron Pierece. Last we saw of him he was carring or the ex First Lady Ms. Logan in some-kind-of retirement village, seeming retired from the Secret Service.

Except that his ex-wife shot him and they never said what happened after that.

I thought this was pretty good, but it's a shame Jack's friend had to die. I like the actor...would have loved to see him back.

Looking forward to the new season now, but I really don't like the idea of Tony being a bad guy. :(

Tony being a "bad guy" makes me uncomfortable.... but I'll take it if we can get a good, engrossing, well-executed story. It's so hard to tell from the snippets we've been fed so far. It's possible he's trying to expose something vital, but with Jack's angry "make sure you stay dead"..... I don't think that's the case.

Meh. It wouldn't be 24 without someone dying simply due to sheer stupidity (either his/her own or someone else's) in the name of plot. I wonder of Willie will grow up to become Edgar Stiles or Lynn McGill or a Palmer sister.
