24: Not wasting anytime to come out on DVD

Fox isn't wasting any time getting Season 7 of 24 out on DVD. The season finale is on May 18th and the season 7 dvd set is being released the NEXT DAY. Yep, season 7 dvd set is in stores May 19th.

I know FOX has done similar things like this in the past with TV specials, but this is the first time I can remember a whole season of DVD's being released the day after the last episode airs.

We've known this for a little while, but thanks for the news, regardless. I expect the season finale will leak ahead of time due to pre-orders all over the internet.

I seem to recall that the bulk, if not all of this season had been held back because of the writers strike. That likely gave them the time to produce the DVD set and release it accordingly. I can't imagine why they'd wait to release it, in that case.

That is a bizarre move since the DVD always gets released a few weeks before the new season starts, to drum up interest for it. Particularly when they always release in December, even when it was strike-delayed by 1.5 years.

It was set well before the show even aired, it's because of the writers strike.

From different stories 6-11 episodes of the season were filmed before the useless writers' strike. I'm not sure how true the stories were or if they went "screw it" and threw them out for sucking.

Only the first eight episodes of the season were in the can when the strike halted production. The following sixteen episodes, plus the two hour "Redemption" movie were produced after the writer's strike had ended.
