21st Century System ship

This ship is a 'Tachyon Class' Survey/Freighter vessel with state of the art sensors built for intersystem travel between Earth and the outer planets, its main purpose is transport of resources from outlying mining colonys with a refueling system designed to refuel from orbit around Saturns Moon Titan where the main refueling depot in the system is located, other times the ship is used to survey asteroid or areas of planets for resources.
It is equipped with Spatial Torpedoes/Missiles and a high energy laser system for targetting asteroids, it is capabale of cutting small chunks out of ore rich asteroids and collecting the small chunks within its cargo hold. The vessel is built in orbit within a prototype shipyard module.

I have attempted to illustrate the inside of the craft but its not brilliant and doesnt show every room etc but I tried my best, ive added a Cargo Bay which isnt shown in my original picture.

Heheheheheheehe. The penis-ship is used to survey asteroids. get it? "Asteroids." "ASteroids." "Ass-steroids." :guffaw:

It seems to have a lot of crew quarters compared to the size of the ship. What is the long grey dealy running down the length, centre of the ship? Any chance of seeing a view of the bridge?

And you jokers better not say it's the urethra!

I hate to say it, because it seems you're actually being serious about this (I think we ALL assumed it was a joke initially)... but the design is one that I'd abandon, or dramatically rework, if I were you.

The fact that everyone who sees it sees a vibrator (it's EXACTLY like the "silver bullet" a girl I used to know had) means that it's never going to be taken seriously. If you WANT it taken seriously... some changes are in order, like it or not.

The easiest thing to do would be to alter the shape of the front end. Make it less "bullet-shaped" (it's in SPACE, you don't need aerodynamics!) and make it a barely-blunted flat cylinder end. Possibly put some extra details protruding from the sides and front (I hesitate to say this, because I know it'll just end up being referred to as genital warts!) but if you do it right, it won't bring to mind "chortle-inducing" imagery.

That's my advice. Take it or leave it...

I totally agree with CLB -- unless this is a joke, you really should change this. Otherwise, the tapered phallus shape, smooth silver exterior, and speed-changing twist knob on the end -- it looks exactly like a vibrator... Exactly. If you like that, fine, but everyone will laugh. If you want to keep this shape, then check out the Romulan vessel from the Star Trek Chronology:

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/inconsistencies/history-romulan.htm

Or the Romulan War Wing at the Starfleet Museum:

http://www.starfleet-museum.org/

But, come on, please tell us you're joking...

Well even if people arnt taking it seriously I still like the design ;), I like the design so much I made some images of the outside of the ship . I've done two seperate hull images because I didnt know which was best, so what do you think?
Is the top image best or is the bottom image best? Top or Bottom, whats your preference?

The Grey line running down the centre is the Laser Weapon as marked on my initial quick sketch.
The ship has science labs and information processing centres aswell as engineering and maintenance crews, there are a lot more rooms on the ship which isnt shown in my schematic drawing, the schematic cuts through the middle of the ship and doesnt show all the rooms.

It is designed like that to allow gases that the ship passes through in space to hit the Buzzard collectors rather than knocking the gases out of the way. The ship is also capable of entering Jovian atmospheres to collect raw hydrogen gases, a very dangerous maneuver but the ships design allows for a smooth ride and the thusters are large and powerful enough to escape the Jovian planets gravity with a Velocity of 134,118 mph. ;)

Not to be a prick, guys, but is the shape so much different from Lockeed's submission to NASA for the much smaller CEV?

Then, about the Busssard ramscoops, okay, but they have to have huge intake area (dwarfing the rest of the vessel) to take in any meaningful quantity of hydrogen, unlike Starfleet Bussard collectors, which work differently.

They're mainly designed for Jovian Atmospheric travel and they have super suction power. ;) The collected gas can either be processed and burned immediately or processed and stored in the main fuel tank.

Isn't this the ship that, under the command of Captain Peter Richards, negotiated the second Orgasm Peace Treaty between the Federation & the Klingon Empire, and established the Erogenous Zone? :guffaw:

Perhaps if this ship were thicker it would look more satisfying. And it would be more easy to breach the 'great barrier', as it were.

Seriously, I like the second design better. Also, it's spelled "Bussard" not "Buzzard", just fyi...
