But genuinely given how expanded it is now in terms of teams, and the issues around climate etc, I do wonder if an unfancied team might somehow make it to the final and win it. And by unfancied I'm talking someone like Belgium or the Netherlands, not a USA or a Scotland.

Isn't there some kind of record for host nations always making it to at least the last 16? Or did South Africa ruin that?
When the games were announced and Seattle was selected as a host city, everyone was excited at what it could bring to the city.

I can't get excited for this event. I'll watch if I am skipping through the channels, but everything I've heard going in is so negative that I feel like it has overshadowed what should be great about the World Cup. It's just so bogged down by the off field corruption.
