I'm always worried and also a bit annoyed at teams with one superstar around which the whole team seems to pivot - Messi, Kane, Mbappe, Ronaldo and so on.

Then there are teams who seem more complete like Spain and who manage to neutralize that one Superstar and then control the game like it happened today with Spain simply being the better overall team. Still big name players playing for the best teams in the best leagues but the general non-regular fans can name Messi or Ronaldo since they bleed over into general mainstream news but for sure can't name one of the spanish players right out of the gate.

I'm happy that this may be it for Messi and Ronaldo, their last world cups, so that newer generations can come up and get the recognition they deserve.

Well done Spain, you were the better team and deservedly won. Now go party!

Whether or not you like their style of play, at least Spain came to play today. Argentina were negative from the start and looked like they were just hoping to take it to penalties. It was fun to see them win in 2022, but they were really insufferable this year. Good riddance, and congrats to Spain.

I mean Spain do have the likes of Rodri for one who won the Ballon d'Or just 2 years ago so they do have superstar players, I guess just not quite the individuals that some teams have.

And after this WC I think you can swap Kane out for Bellingham! :)

Yes but if you go to the streets and ask randoms if they know Messi or who Rodri is ( outside of Spain of course or people who follow football closely) i think the picture is clear.

One thing a WC always does is boost a players visibility increasing their market worth and giving them a chance to launch a top career with some of the major leagues and teams, a WC creates the beginning of a superstar or reinforces a status they already have like Spain's Yamal while for aging Superstars it may be their last hurrah like Messi. Ronaldo, Neymar etc.
