I think I'm more excited to watch all the heads exploding from the youtubers explaining how these series will be the ruin of Trek than I am actually reading the stories.

Mind you, I'm going to likely enjoy both of them ;)
 
I'm not a fan of spin-offs that don't have even a single established character. It's why I didn't like Star Trek: Infection.

The general consensus among YouTubers is that Starfleet Academy ruined the Star Trek franchise beyond repair so anything that comes after it is a moot point.

I've heard the same thing about every live action series, and I just bought a magazine that had an article positing that Star Trek isn't really Star Trek without Shatner, Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley on the screen.

“The general consensus among YouTubers?” These two series don’t even appeal to me, but that still translates as “Somebody’s irrelevant opinion is that…”

Might as well ask chatgpt what it thinks. Some of their views are entertaining to deconstruct, there's usually a more fundamental issue they're working through emotionally, but most of the time it boils down to "Change is hard"

It's a platform for short form art stories, think of a comic book, but with infinite scroll. There's some options to read it all for free, pay for the content, or pay for early access to the content. They release content in "chapters" on a regular basis, with the first one mentioned here having 40 chapters. All those options are up to Paramount. Some of my friend read a series named "Lore Olympus" on it and it did well enough to get several hardcover releases.
 
Comics are throwing around the c-word again...

The character on the header of the Inverse article is Jato Paicara (uncropped version of the image), in case anyone else saw what appeared to be a prominant facial scar (it's just his cheekbones) on a 24th century male Starfleet officer and got excited.

I'm trying to figure out where the person who wrote the article got the idea that these are "canon". There is absolutely no mention of canon in the article, and I find it a little hard to believe that of all the print media these would be the ones that actually have a direct impact on screen media.
 
Yeah, when I saw canon series, I had assumed it was TV series too. And we just had the upfronts, so I thought maybe Paramount did theirs and announced their next Paramount+ series.
