2024 book releases

As engrossing as this debate as to whether comics should be announced in their own thread or this one is, I'm going to interrupt it to reveal the cover image for David Mack's Picard novel Firewall has been revealed.
Sticking an embed for posterity:

Nice cover art I'm looking forward to getting another Picard book with Seven's back story after Voyager in a novel And what made her decided to join the Fenris rangers before meeting Picard in the tv series.:biggrin::techman:

If there were we would have already have posted about it.

Seems like OP was asking if there are any rumors about as to upcoming developments, by way of conversation starter. Doesn't strike me as an impertinent question on a Star Trek Literature bulletin board, particularly as an author had hinted several months ago (above) that some news might be forthcoming soon.

Again, if there had been we'd have already posted that in this thread. The sad reality is, there simply isn't anything to report regarding Trek novels these days.

They already have stopped releasing German Trek novels without further explanation. So there is time for catching up on my pile of unread books.

Is this one already known by @Greg Cox ?

Star Trek -The Original Series: Lost to Eternity in July 2024

A thrilling new Star Trek “movie era” novel from New York Times bestselling author Greg Cox!

Three Eras. Three Mysteries. One Ancient Enemy?

2024: Almost forty years ago, marine biologist Gillian Armstrong stormed away from her dream job at San Francisco’s Cetacean Institute—and was never seen or heard from again. Now a new true crime podcast has reopened that cold case, but investigator Melinda Silver has no idea that her search for the truth about Gillian’s disappearance will ultimately stretch across time and space—and attract the attention of a ruthless obsessive with his own secret agenda.

2268: The USS Enterprise’s five-year mission is interrupted when Captain James T. Kirk and his crew set out to recover an abducted Federation scientist whose classified secrets are being sought by the Klingons as well. The trail leads to a barbaric world off limits to both Starfleet and the Klingon Empire—and an ageless mastermind on a quest for eternity.

2292: The Osori, an ancient alien species, has finally agreed to establish relations with its much younger neighbors: the Federation, the Klingons, and the Romulans. A joint mission involving ships from all three powers, including the Enterprise-A, turns explosive when one of the Osori envoys is apparently killed. Each side blames the others, but the truth lies buried deep, nearly three hundred years in the past…

There was a story in the Strange New Worlds VI anthology, "Whales Weep Not" by Juanita Notle, where a detective investigated Gillian's disappearance. I didn't find it convincing, because every witness the detective interviewed described events exactly as they happened in the movie down to the last detail, with no errors or inconsistencies. It would've been more realistic, and more interesting, if the witnesses had misremembered details and filtered things through their personal biases, with the detective having to sort through the inconsistencies.

Also found a new book by Dayton Ward coming in May 2024, TNG Pliable Truths
A thrilling new Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine adventure from New York Times bestselling author Dayton Ward!

2369: Shortly after Starfleet thwarts a Cardassian attack on a Federation star system, the Cardassian government orders an end to its fifty-year occupation of the planet Bajor. As a result, a newly installed Bajoran government requests immediate assistance from the Federation to mediate how the withdrawal will proceed and what recompense, if any, Bajorans are owed from their brutal oppressors. Captain Jean-Luc Picard is ordered by Starfleet Command to oversee these tense negotiations on Terok Nor, the massive Cardassian space station still orbiting Bajor, even as he still deals with his own recent trauma as a prisoner held and tortured by a Cardassian interrogator.

As these critical peace talks get underway, Ensign Ro Laren receives a call for help from a friend thought long dead, exposing an insidious secret from inside Cardassian space. Now, Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise must act to prevent an interstellar incident from reigniting deadly hostilities between the Federation and the Cardassians, and shattering any hope of justice for the Bajoran people…
And there we have it. Three new novels in 2024. We've now exceeded 2023's output.

On the Apple eBook store, the audiobooks for both new novels are already listed for preorder, but the print (well, text) editions haven't populated yet. Probably will sometime this week.
