Romulans huh. Strange not to create a new villain for such an unexplored time period, but go with the ONE it shouldn’t realistically be. We’ll see how it pans out though.

The Romulan ships in the image in the article are fighting NX-class ships and ENT-era Andorian and (I think) Tellarite ships, so that must be a representation of the Earth-Romulan War. Perhaps it's a history lesson or battle simulation from an Academy class.

Finally announced:

The 30th anniversary celebration of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine continues!

Written by actor and director Andrew J. Robinson, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: A Stitch in Time is an unique and intense tale following Elim Garak, the character Robinson portrayed throughout the television series' seven-season run, as he attempts to stitch the ravaged society of Cardassia back together.

Star Trek and Simon & Schuster are excited to announce the audiobook adaptation of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: A Stitch in Time, narrated by Robinson himself, will arrive this summer on August 1, 2023. Pre-order the audiobook now!

Before becoming the Federation's finest, Jean-Luc was an ordinary student at Starfleet Academy with sights on the stars. His path forward was charted: blow his classmates out of the water on the infamous Evasive Maneuvers exam and graduate early. “Intergalactic war”.

Ugh. The only intergalactic conflicts we've ever seen in Trek are the ones against Sylvia & Korob, the Kelvans, the Doomsday Machine, and probably the space amoeba and the "One of Our Planets Is Missing" cloud creature, since they all came from other galaxies. (I don't count Mudd's androids, since it was their builders who came from Andromeda; the androids themselves were probably "born" on the planet.) Post-TAS Trek has been impressively disciplined about keeping things within one galaxy (which is so immense that there's really no need to look beyond it).

I'm not sure what the trends are overseas, but I can say that the U.S. mass-market paperback unit sales count dropped every year from 2013 to 2021, according to what I have seen from Bookscan. Dollars are down more.
I never did like trade paperbacks. So for me, eBooks are much better. I did like MMPB. IMHO, TPB was just to be able to raise the price with no benefit.

When I started reading Trek books just over 20 years ago, I did appreciate that the MMPB used to fit perfectly in the small pocket on side of my bag. Was a pocket I never had use for before, and suddenly it was perfect for something.

Just adding that IDW have announced some panels for their Star Trek line at SDCC, so we may get some news that could go in the 2023 or 2024 releases threads:
