Proper details out now:More likely to be the Dayton Ward Discovery novel discussed upthread, given it links him indirectly as the author and given he noted in a recent blog post (https://daytonward.wordpress.com/2022/10/06/the-semi-sorta-late-september-writing-wrap-up/) that more data about his next project, which had an incorrect working title floating around online, was likely to hit the Internet this weekend.
Back cover blurb said:Captain Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery are finding that each day is a critical adjustment to their new lives and new missions in an Alpha Quadrant more than nine hundred years in the future. It’s here that Discovery is reconnecting with various worlds where the cataclysmic event known as “the Burn” has decimated Starfleet and, with it, the United Federation of Planets. There’s been precious little time for the crew to truly come to terms with their present reality, as their devotion to duty hides the emotional stress that could impact their effectiveness, and even threaten themselves or others.
After a successful journey to yet another planet cut off from the Federation, Discovery picks up a distress signal located in a nearby star system—a plea that harbors roots from their past lives in the 23rd century, and which may now lead to an entirely new crisis, plunging them all into mortal danger…
Lore was just revealed to be in Picard season 3, so that's some interesting timing.
Also of note, Cantwell wrote the most recent Iron Man series at Marvel, which I heard somewhat mixed things about (praise for the story in general, but some felt that his characterization of Iron Man wasn't in line with previous portrayals).
Cool!Proper details out now:
Star Trek: Discovery - Somewhere to Belong; to be released 30 May 2023. (So "Untitled STB" was not the indicator of the series!)
