2022 book releases

People have got to get over the myth that canon is some sort of guarantee of permanence. Every canon is still just a set of stories, and stories are imaginary constructs, which means they can be reimagined.
Well, except for Sherlock Holmes. There are fifty-six short stories and four novels in the Holmes Canon, no more and no less; everything else is an homage.

But I digress!...

Except for any canon that's no longer being created. That's the point. Creation is a process of experimentation and change, so the only canons that don't change are the ones no longer being actively created. This is what people fail to understand when they mistake "canon" for a guarantee of consistency. Canon is about authorship, not content. The canon is the work of the original creators or their successors, as distinct from outside creations emulating it. And as long as it's still being created, it's as subject to change and growth as any other living thing.

I will resist entering a discussion about Holmes apocrypha and its canonicity... but let's just mention The Field Bazaar, How Watson Learned the Trick, The Story of the Man with the Watches & The Story of the Lost Special hahaha.

Reading IDW #400, pretty good so far
The USS Rutledge is a New Orleans class, NCC-57295, those facts apparently originate in an old DS9 comic.
