2020 titles announced

News to me. :)

Maybe he was trying to use a Jedi mind trick on you.

"You will write a movie era Star Trek novel next"

If you suddenly start thinking about doing a follow up to "Foul Deeds Will Rise" we'll know his sinister plan worked :ouch:

Still, I am always grateful that you wrote a book between TFF and TUC--an underserved era in Star Trek novels. And it was a great book to boot as well.

I've done at least two movie-era books: FOUL DEEDS WILL RISE and MIASMA.

I keep forgetting you wrote "Miasma." Maybe because that was an e-book only story.

That was a good story as well.

What was funny is I read "Miasma" after "Foul Deeds Will Rise" (can't remember which was released first) and while I was reading it I was wondering to myself, 'hmm, wonder if this will be consistent with 'Foul Deeds Will Rise'".

Duh, it was written by the same guy. I mix up "Shadow of the Machine" and "The More Things Change" too. I'm better at keeping track of the printed novels then the e-books. I'm always mixing them up.

To be honest, I forget about that one sometimes, because the only print copy on my shelves is the German translation! :)

I'm glad they released a print copy - together with two other ebook-only-stories - because I'm not fond of ebooks. I remember some disgusting creatures in that story.......

I'm a bit shocked we still haven't seen the ebook novellas in print either in their own collection or as extras in the back of other books. Most of the other franchises or series I usually follow eventually release their e-books in print in one of those two forms. Since the e-books have been mostly random standalone, it would probably be easiest to pair them up with novels in the same series.

I'd love to see "Slings and Arrows" and maybe "Corps of Engineers" in a print collection a la "Mere Anarchy". I keep forgetting to download those two series.

But given a choice I prefer old fashioned printed books.

It'd be nice to see the others printed at some point, but I doubt we'll see that. I don't see the Typhon Pact e-books for instance being able to be included in any future novel, since they really wouldn't fit the theme unless S&S decides to continue to relaunches. I don't see that happening---though I guess there is a plan ;)

Are we stuck with "LDS" as the shorthand for LOWER DECKS? Because I keep reading that as Latter-Day Saints.

"Wait. We're doing Mormon STAR TREK novels now?' :)

Well, according to South Park, Mormons are the ones that are supposed to go to Heaven  Everyone else was in orientation in Hell and someone asks who goes to Heaven then and the speaker said "Mormons....Mormons was the correct answer"

Too bad I'm a Catholic I guess

But thanks to you every time I see LDS I think of Timothy Leary. :nyah:

I want to see a Lower Decks novel by Peter David. Anybody know if we're getting any LDS fiction, novel or comics?

I think the animation style lends itself to comics perfectly, so hopefully we hear something from IDW at some point.

It's the Star Trek/The Expanse crossover nobody asked for! ;)

(AFAIK, it's just the "official" abbreviation. We don't use the official Voyager abbreviation in the review threads either, so who knows? I read at Memory Alpha that they're going to be sticking with "LD"... and I actually prefer that one better.)

Yeah, I like LD better too. Both because of the Mormon connection with LDS, and because i prefer to just abbreviate the first letters of each word for multiword titles, without throwing in any others. I know that leaves it with two letters while the others all have three, but oh well.

If they had just called the show Star Trek: The Lower Decks, this whole issue could have been avoided! ;)
