2020 titles announced

As I recall, it wasn't actually the Hobus incident, which took place in the 24th century in Prime Universe, that split the timeline. It was Nero coming through the wormhole and destroying the Kelvin, creating the Kelvin timeline. That was the point of divergence.

As far the 23rd century of the Kelvin century is concerned, the Hobus incident is something that may or may not happen a hundred years in their future. At most, it's something Zachary Quinto's Spock is going to have to deal with when he's old and gray. :)

So if Quinto-Spock (let's call him "Kelvin Timeline" or "KT Spock") prevents the Hobus supernova, perhaps with "new and improved red matter),does that restore the original timeline? I get a picture in my head of an ouroboros. Or does it merely create a "new" timeline which is identical to the TOS one? The mind gobbles.

No, because the original didn't go anywhere, as proven by the existence of Discovery and Picard and all the other Prime Universe shows they're still making. It doesn't need to be "restored." Kelvin is a parallel branch, like the Mirror Universe. The writers did their homework and ditched the stupid and wrong "erased timeline" model in favor of the more scientifically credible parallel-timeline model (just as Avengers: Endgame did), not only because it's more plausible but because they didn't want to erase the original franchise, just to have the freedom to go their own way with it. Also because Paramount and Bad Robot wouldn't have been allowed to erase CBS's version of the Trek universe anyway.

Besides, if the not-necessarily-named-Hobus-because-the-comics-aren't-canonical supernova is prevented in Kelvin-2387, then logically the Red Matter accident that sent Spock and Nero back in time wouldn't happen, so there'd be no time travel involved at all and that timeline would just continue normally.

Also, in the example of “Captain Marvel”, the DVD on Amazon.com is priced at the same price point as the digital edition, while it is the superior quality versions on Blu and 4K Blu that are higher.

The DVD doesn't matter. We are not going for the low-res version. That would be like watching Star Trek: Discovery on a TV with a 4:3 tube. It just should never be done.

For those interested, AJ Black live-tweeted details of our Saturday panel at DST: https://twitter.com/ajblackwriter/status/1188060833487699969

Thanks to everyone who came along to see Una and me, we had a terrific time, signed lots of books and met lots of lovely folks! I especially enjoyed our Sunday panel about "40 Years of Star Trek fiction", as it gave us a chance to shine a light on some older books that have been overlooked.

Is that the Picard book cover in the picture? It looks like it's just the title and Una McCormacks name on black.

Similar style to the Kirk, Picard and Spock volumes.

Bunch of new announcements...

A hardcover "Voyager" coffee table book has also been announced. "In June 2020, celebrate the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: Voyager with a new hardcover from Hero Collector and author Ben Robinson, as 'Star Trek: Voyager – A Celebration' arrives to usher in the silver anniversary of the television series.

"Robinson told us on Twitter at the book was pitched as 'The greatest [Star Trek] convention ever in a book [form],' and confirmed that the... cover artwork is a placeholder which will be updated pre-release with a new design (which will add Jeri Ryan / Seven of Nine)."

You need to try it in b/w, like the Aussies had to for TOS and TAS.

Why does the Dan Curry book have the Motion Picture Enterprise on the cover? He didn't work on any of the movies, did he?

I've come across on Amazon.com a new Picard book put out by Titan books the Picard files that are old interviews and articles from Star trek magazine and the movies leading up to Star Trek Picard.

Why does the Dan Curry book have the Motion Picture Enterprise on the cover? He didn't work on any of the movies, did he?

It's a book about his art, so it likely includes concept work and other unused pieces he did over the course of his tenure working on the various shows, for whatever reason.

I was talking about the cover reveal for Last Best Hope. In the picture it looks like it just say Star Trek: Picard on top, with Una McCormack's name on the bottom, and just black between them.

It's inspired by Spinal Tap...

That's why we're all laughing in the photo - that was a "gotcha" moment from John Van Citters, it's not the actual cover for Una's Picard novel, just a placeholder. The real cover will be revealed in the coming months.

So, speaking of covers, and of The Last Best Hope...
