2018 Releases

Are there really still no releases for 2018? I'm starting to feel withdrawal with nothing since December.
I suppose that that's the advantage of only having read 190 of my 400+ books.
Plenty to keep me busy during lean times.

We got “Drastic Measures” last month, and Kirsten Beyer’s Voyager novel “Architects Of Infinity” is set to be released this month. And then Prometheus #2 is coming in May.

and if a recently added adopted sibling will be mentioned
David Goodman confirmed that Michael Burnham will be referenced in the book. Indeed, the Picard Autobiography does in fact include a very vague reference to her.

Titan contracted me for two more after the Kirk book, so the first is the Picard book and the next one will be for Spock.

Is that official?

I don’t know that it is officially announced, but there is a contract and they are paying me so I think it is happening. And I am writing it. And with the Spock book, for anyone who has also read the Kirk and Picard books, I am going to reward them. There are scenes in both the Kirk book and the Picard book that are then seen from Spock’s point of view in the Spock book. The third book will sort of tie the three books together, but it will also be its own story. I am very excited to write about Spock’s childhood and his early years in Starfleet before he became Kirk’s first officer.

And now he has an extra sister.

Yeah, I got to figure that one out. [laughs] I am reading Desperate Hours, which has some stuff about it. And actually there is a very brief nod to Discovery in the Picard book. If you blink, you might miss it. I was given a little something. Someone who read the book said “You could do this,” and so I did. It’s a fun thing for fans of Discovery, and if you aren’t a fan it goes right by.
If anyone's wondering, the Disco reference in the Picard book comes when Picard is recounting his mind meld with Sarek in the episode named after him. It's described as Picard experiencing various memories of Sarek's as though they were his own, and among those mentioned a very vaguely worded description of Sarek saving Michael's life after the Vulcan school bombing.

Okay, that is kinda neat.

Yeah, in all honesty this hiatus is barely a blip on my radar mostly because there's still new novels coming out for me every month anyway. At the moment, I think August will be the only month this year I won't be purchasing any new books, but then that's no problem since August always turns out to be an unusually busy month for me anyway.

And I still have many unread books to read. This month I will acquire three Trek novels, two of them German translations. So enough to read for me anyway.

I don't know about "kind of okay", but I'll get by. :) Star Trek books are the only ones I allow myself to actually buy anymore, so it's not like I'm buying other books elsewhere. I guess if I want to read, it will mean more trips to the library. But TBH my reading time is way down anyway lately. I actually have three or for Trek books from last year that I haven't read yet, which is really unusual. But now I can read them during the slow times!

On the plus side, since these are the only ones I buy and I won't be spending as much on them, it should save me some money, and every little bit helps. But to be honest, I will probably use that as an excuse to justify some of the pricier art books that I haven't been able to afford to pick up yet! :)

Am I the only one who's kind of okay with Pocket having a bit of a Star Trek hiatus?
My fear is that the hiatus will easily turn into cancellation. Or worse, even if it doesn't, that the range comes back fundamentally altered into something more sporadic and non-serialized like Pocket/Gallery has been doing with Halo.

They've already cut the range in half and cancelled most of the book-only series; moving to a more traditional tie-in approach would kill what was left of my interest.

Am I the only one who's kind of okay with Pocket having a bit of a Star Trek hiatus? The world is full of good books, but it's hard to keep up with it all when Pocket publishes a new masterpiece every month. ;)
I haven't even caught up with all the Star Trek ones yet, let alone everything else!

I only recently started reading Trek books again, and select ones at that (mostly TOS-set). I mostly read Christian fiction, with a few non-fiction titles thrown in.
