Unless Croatia pulls off an upset, we should see a France-England final.
They have a chance when Kane & Co. get into the semi-final in a drunk condition... Meanwhile Southgate - the man who missed a penalty against Germany so many years ago - wants to turn himself from zero to hero....
^Based upon what we've seen in different matches in this WC, I think they would in fact deserve 2nd place, it's just that this isn't a viable outcome the way the tournament is organised ...
Well, shoot. That sucked. A great match all around but it's a bummer Belgium lost. The poor reffing at the end didn't help any either, not that it would make any difference probably.
That French pass combo at the 1:13 mark was a thing of absolute soccer beauty!! It's like the French players had eyes in the back of their heads.
I agree. France vs Belgium should have been the final and not a semi final match.
Bizarre thing is Belgium could probably have arranged that 2nd place by losing instead of winning from the very country that probably will become 2nd now (England) in the group stage...
He already has imo, regardless of the semi-final result.
Nervous ahead of the semifinal. In 20 years of watching this sport and following England, this is uncharted territory for me, and I'm still not confident of a win. On paper, England perhaps has the edge. But Croatia is a good, powerful side. I'm willing Kane to score some goals and settle the nerves. Throw Rashford on at 60 minutes to score more. Don't make this a nail-biter.

I was 6 last time around. Young, but old enough to understand the stakes. I was a very sad ickle Trekkie that night.
