The whole easy run thing is a complete cop out especially when at this world cup we've seen lesser nations beat the giants of World Football.

I don't remember people bitching about Brazil in 2002 when they had China & Costa Rica in their group or Germany who reached the final by playing the likes of Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, Paraguay, USA & South Korea. Italy won it in 2006 by facing USA, Ghana, Australia, Ukraine.

The point of playing these games is to win them. Put the ball in the net more than the other guy. If you do that, and you win, so what? And England can only play who's in front of them. You both seem to have taken what I said far too seriously. I was commenting - not "bitching" (very creative interpretation of what I said, that) - on England's opponents (Sweden were ordinary considering what was at stake, hence my remark that England did no more than they had to), not criticising England or saying they shouldn't be upbeat about their progress. They're playing good football and deserve to be where they are. But whatever.

Belgium is a big and pleasant surprise. European football is dominant at the moment.
