2016 MLB Regular Season - It's an Even Year...

If you think a person deserves to get decked in the face -- basically the textbook definition of assault and battery -- for flipping a bat, but you have no objection to a pitcher pumping his fist after a strikeout, then you're just a damn hypocrite.

Don't really care about the bat flip. Players do that all the time.

As for retaliation in general: NEVER to the face or head. Absolutely not. No matter the circumstances.

^ Perhaps. But I wasn't speaking to the validity of retaliation itself; just that IF it's ever done, never throw at the head. Everyone should agree on that.

Except we weren't talking about throwing at the head, we were talking about one person literally punching another person in the face.

Woosh, as usual.

Rangers up next on taking hundreds of millions of dollars from tax payers to replace a perfectly fine stadium, apparently they only learned in the past few years that Texas is hot.

They built the Astrodome in 1965 because Colt Stadium was too hot (and had rattlesnakes, etc.), so building another open stadium in Texas was a pretty stupid move.

Sigh. So now the injury bug is biting Oakland. I think I have to just settle for a decade or so of mediocrity until the Great BB can restock our farm system.

Which he will then trade for future prospects, which he will trade.
Yep. There is only so far Oakland can go playing a shitty (literally) stadium, in a terrible part of town, for a fanbase that is loyal but limited in resources, and for owners content to take revenue sharing checks and bump up the payroll in miniscule amounts every year.
So Beane builds and builds and when the moment feels right - goes for broke. We should have won it all in 2014, but he went one trade too many and gave away our future for a shot at a Series win. I would have forgiven him if we had one, but that year soured me on Billy Beane.

Sonny Gray was one of their top trade chips. I know the Cubs were linked to him at some point, as well as Tyson Ross (also on the DL).

Somebody help me with the logic on the Odor reduction: how does eight games instead of seven make a difference, except if Odor goes 5-5 with five grand slams?

Nice to see Matt Harvey get a win. :techman:

One question: A Whitesox hitter got called out on strikes, even though he was hit by a pitch. Does the fact that he swung, override the HBP?
