2011 SotL Calendar

I got the latest Ships of the Line Calendar yesterday, and just want to give a big thanks to the contributors to it that participate in this forum. :bolian:

My favorite is Clawhammer's ring ship, but so many of them are not far behind it.

Excellent calendar this year guys. I especially like the "stealth" tech manual page.
:techman:

Here's an image of the calendar centerfold, with sufficient resolution to read the text:

The explanation of the NX-01 refit is plausible, though I kinda wish they'd put it after the Earth-Romulan War so that it was consistent with the novels.

But the Jefferies ringship is the real prize. Interesting to see Mike Okuda's explanation of how it fits into Trek history. I wish the text mentioned when XCV-330 was built, though.

Clawhammer, good job on the ringship. Is that a deflector dish at the bottom of the "enviropod?"

The NX refit is still fugly, IMO, but the ringship is a thing of beauty. Definitely the best ship Clawhammer's made, IMO. Good job.

In ENT "First Flight" a picture of it appreared on the wall of the 602 Club during the 2143 flashbacks, so sometime prior to then.

Is this the one with that big Romulan ship? I thought that was going to be the centerfold? That was going to be my main reason for buying if so.

I like the model of the ring ship; not sold on retconning it as based on Vulcan propulsion designs, though - ENT really screwed the Trekverse with making the Vulcan ships derivative of the original ringship, not vice-versa. The NX is, if anything, homelier than ever, and the explanation is pretty lame, IMO. Lipstick on a pig, I'm afraid. One more SotL calendar I won't be wasting my money on.

I like the ringship, but there's too much nuTrek crap in it. Maybe I can get the images I like elsewhere.

Huh? There are only two pictures in that calendar out of twelve that show the nuEnterprise and the Kelvin. Or are you bitching about nuTrek just for the sake of bitching?

Yeah, "too much" is when it's most of the calendar. I remember there was one year where they went all ENT-crazy with SOTL, and another where it was all TOS, all year.

I love the NX-01, but it's not improved at all by trying to bring it into line with other versions of the Enterprise - I don't like the addition of the secondary hull.

Any explanation at all for the ringship is not a retcon - it's only appeared as a couple of still images in various Trek productions, so nothing was ever established about it other than that it was "a ship named Enterprise." The Vulcan ringships were cool designs, and using them as the basis for this one is clever.

^ For him, too much = any at all. :(
I can't stand anything from the JJverse. For those two months I'd have to take the calendar down. The JJprise is an atrocity in my eyes.

Wow. You're just itching to start some argument about Star Trek '09, aren't you? I mean, you went out of your way to post basically the same response about the calendar in three (3) different sections of the TrekBBS, basically saying that "there's too much JJTrek for my taste" even though a complete moron could see that there's only two pictures out of twelve from the new movie. Seems to me that you're just trolling.

We get that you didn't like the movie that came out a year ago. Now it's time for you to get over that, and stop beating a dead horse. At least until Star Trek XII comes out in 2012. Then you can post all the vitriol you want.

Back on topic and off the personal comments ... everyine is entitled to have and to speak his own opinion about the art - not the poster.
