2011-12 pilot season

Wonder Woman

Bionic Women failed so why pick up Wonder Woman ? it will flatline after several episodes to around 5 million.

Mann’s World - A one hour drama following the complicated life of Allan Mann, a celebrity hair stylist in glamorous Los Angeles as he navigates the complexities of his business, his family life, and his goal to stay relevant in a world that moves quickly.”

So a serious Ugly Betty-ish style show...

Smash - An hourlong musical series that follows characters who come together for the exhilarating ride of putting on a Broadway musical

The name sounds like a sequel to M.A.S.H :p but the show info sounds like a Glee rip off, people won't watch another in large numbers but am guessing but might stike a decent demo.

I Hate That I Love You - A twisty, single-camera romantic comedy in which a straight couple introduces two of its lesbian friends to one another and what results is both instant attraction and a pregnancy

Lesbian so no chance of getting any old tight minded buggers from CBS to watch your show ;). Am sure men will watch at first then after seeing no action will tune out.

Then I guess all those shows that tried to goose the ratings with fully clothed lesbian kisses or even just longing glances :rommie: were pathetically short of the mark? Heroes did it, seems to happen fairly often in sci fi. They should save themselves the embarrassment, why do they think they can compete with porn anyway?

Exactly! ;)

That's not to say that I don't think a lesbian relationship couldn't be well-done and add to the drama, instead of only existing for tillitation. I just don't think it's been tried on any US TV show that I've seen. :p

Thing I don't get about lesbians.

They know where the fast forward button is.

Because of the masturbation.

The years and decades of masturbation.

Early life masturbation when they cohabitated or lived with parents or even shared a room and... Being young and requiring to masturbate once or twice a day in secrecy without a looming audience sneaking up on them, they learn to get it done quick smart lickitysplit, like we all do. Quick, quiet, behind a locked door drowning in shame.

So because we only want to oogle adult lesbians for reasons of law, morality and good taste (goodsportsmanship? You throw the little ones back.) you got two beings squaring off for carnal congress who can make a woman cum in seconds with a single blow (literally or figuratively.) like a ninja that can kill a waterbuffalo with a single strike with just two fingers and...

Figured it out.

What I didn't get at the top of the page, I figured it out.

Lesbians are crap in bed on purpose to extend sex.

They have to be.

Otherwise it's half a second of tactical surgical attacks from both sides of the court (Like when Xena used to cut off the blood flow to peoples brains by striking a series of nerve clusters.), a magnificent simultaneous contraction of the pleasure muscles and off to read a good book.

Where the fuck is the adventure in that?

Alternatively if each lesbian lover is expecting nine or more orgasms during one afternoon of sex, and if their partner(s) don't create a lengthy pause between the beginnings of their next orgasms sounding off like volleys of depth charges chasing after the Red October, they're likely to kill their lover, maybe a stroke, left as some sort of cripple, but it's more righteous, noble even, to pretend you're a little backed up, lost and fumbling about under flaps looking for spots, than being pegged rightfully a murderer.

I know prison rape isn't funny, but I might not be talking about prison rape next.

But you've got 25 to life to serve in a woman's prison, dykes stored like chord wood in bunk after bunk, and you're already a lesbian, but no one in the joint will touch you because your pussy kills people.

Is that irony?

Then I guess all those shows that tried to goose the ratings with fully clothed lesbian kisses or even just longing glances :rommie: were pathetically short of the mark?

Indeed.

Lesbians in and of themselves are not hot. Hot naked sexy lesbians are hot.

Yet just today, I see ANOTHER post (dig down to Gaith's, a few posts from the end) implying that Wonder Woman will be a ratings slam-dunk if only they'd have the wisdom to make her a lesbian. (And in the case of that particular character, I'd buy it as a valid interpretation in its own right.) I see these sorts of posts far too often around here to actually believe lesbians aren't a draw, even fully clothed in fine tradition of FCC-strangled broadcast network TV. ;)

But if NBC had any brains, they'd hire Guy Gardener to do their series development:
But you've got 25 to life to serve in a woman's prison, dykes stored like chord wood in bunk after bunk, and you're already a lesbian, but no one in the joint will touch you because your pussy kills people.

There's our ratings slam-dunk! :bolian:

Sounds pretty cool. Will they skip over his drug use?

And now for the stupid and lame:

http://www.deadline.com/2011/01/abc-picks-up-comedy-pilot-more-to-come/

As expected, it is a busy pickup day at ABC. The network just gave the green light to period drama pilot Pan Am, from Sony Pictures TV and ER alum Jack Orman. Orman penned the script and Thomas Schlamme is on board to direct the pilot, described as a sexy soap set against the Jet-Age about pilots and flight attendants working at the iconic Pan Am airline in the 1960s.

ABC also just picked up a second comedy pilot for today, Lost and Found. Like Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen's Work It, it is multicamera and comes from the same studio, Warner Bros. TV. Written by Marisa Coughlan, who will serve as supervising producer, Lost and Found centers on a narcissistic New York City bartender and party girl has her life turned upside down when the conservative 18 year old son she gave up for adoption shows up on her doorstep.

ABC is very high on Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen this season, greenlighting a second comedy pilot from the Friends alums.

The comedy, which has a Bosom Buddies vibe to it, centers on two out-of-work car salesmen who realize that it is now a woman's world and decide that in order to find work again and succeed they are going to have to dress as women to get jobs as pharmaceuticals reps. Doing this inadvertently makes them better men, husbands and fathers but also makes them appreciate the sanctuary of their nights at the local bar where they can really be themselves.

Oooh this could be funny, in a soul-crushing-humiliation kind of way, a la Party Down: Brave New World.

The single-camera Brave New World, from Sony Pictures TV and Peter Tolan's Fedora Entertainment, is a workplace comedy that follows a group of unusual characters at Pilgrim Village, a theme park that specializes in recreations of New England in 1637.

Sounds like a potential episode of "The Office."

Um, "Gynecology Project" sounds hilarious. What an awesome name!

I am also intrigued by "Emerald City." A Wizard of Oz remake set in Gotham? Whhaaaattt?

Poe sounds interesting. ABC? Hmmm.

My first reaction to the Munsters: A Munsters remake? Really? Then I saw Bryan Fuller's (Pushing Daises, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls) name and I was like:
I mean, really, Byran Fuller plus the Munsters! Come on! And yes I know it probably won't last long, but it would be nice to have another strange, wonderful Bryan Fuller show. Even for a short while. :)

Alcatraz should be a cool show. Its J.J. Abrams, plus it has a cool sounding mystery & the guy who played Hurley on Lost. :)

I hope Wild Wild West and/or 17th Precinct get picked up. It would be great seeing Ron Moore write a new show!

Not sure about the two D.C. projects, Raven and Wonder Woman. Raven is on CW, so we may get another Smallville or another Birds of Prey. Hmmm. And Wonder Woman is David E. Kelly. Yep, that'll be soap most likely.

I'm hoping Syfy picks up Battlestar: Blood & Chrome for a series.

Not sure about the rest of the shows. The comedies don't interest me. The Sherlock Holmes projects vaguely interest me. I don't know. Here's hoping at least a couple of these cool projects get picked up.

IF I had to pick two to root for (putting aside B&C for a moment), I think it would be Alcartraz and Munsters.

Casting has been completed on the trio of actresses to star in the new Charlie's Angels pilot. In addition to the previously announced Annie Ilonzeh, the new Angels will be played by Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor.

Yeah it could be much better than it sounds (and hopefully a lot better than the original, which was a sad knockoff of the far superior Addams Family).

Here's one I'm rooting for. Even if it's the train wreck it sounds like it will be, it sounds like a fun train wreck:

Rest (Philip Levens). Based on the comic book series Rest by Milo Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff about a workaholic who enrolls in a drug trial which eliminates the need for sleep (drama, script).

Milo, of course, is starring. It needs a name change, tho...Hyper, Wired, Jacked, Amped, something along those lines. Break out the thesaurus.

And it looks like this got a name change from Sand Men? It was better before!

S.A.N.D. (Craig Titley). A squad called the Sleep and Nightmare division enter peoples’ dreams to tackle their nightmares (drama, script).
