2009 - The Biggest Year Ever for Trek?

I just want to see more Star Trek toys in stores. I really don't understand why it has to be just Star Wars... Yeah, Star Wars hit it big back in the day, but I still think Star Trek is a bigger and better franchise.

"Back in the day?" Are you aware that there's an ongoing TV series on Cartoon Network? Retailers love tie-ins but Trek hasn't had much to hook them with in recent years.

But I agree. It'll be fun to see Trek figures hanging on the pegs in the mass market again.

Yes, I am aware of that series on Cartoon Network, which I don't think is very good. What I meant by "back in the day" was the original trilogy, not the recent ones with Jar Jar Binks. I believe Star Wars was bigger in the late 70's early 80's then it is now.

I suspect you may be misreading The Wormhole slightly.

He disparages the movie and brings up his issue with the Kelvin's registry number with almost every post he makes. Plus, it's written in his sig line. What part of that am I misreading?

I very much doubt that he wants the movie to fail, for one thing.

Not according to the statements he's made in this very thread.

But, you know, whatever.

I'll be happy if the film ends up in the Top Ten list of highest grossing domestic films. As you can see from the list below (courtesy of BoxOfficeMojo.com), it's been a while since Trek had a Top 10:

TWOK (1982) #6
TSFS (1984) #9
TVH #5 (1986)

TFF (1989) #25
TUC (1991) #15
GEN (1994) #15
FC (1996) #17
INS (1998) #28
NEM (2002) #54

Note: The Yearly lists provided by BOM only go back to 1980 so I'm not sure where TMP ranked.
