rewatching ENT lately has made me realize I actually do want to have an Archer series. Just call it season 5.
I suppose time and distance has put things in perspective for me. When I was in my early thirties on a trip to across the channels, I saw a dying network giving birth to a sitcom. It was truly amazing. Within minutes, the sitcom was standing up, standing up on its own. A few more minutes, and it was walking; and before I knew it, it was running alongside its parent network, moving away with the herd in a cloud of canned laughter. Network owned prequel spinoffs of first-run syndication spinoffs aren't like that, Ambassador. They may come from the same network as those sitcoms, but they're pretty much helpless when they're born. It takes them years before they're able to crawl past their bizarro show creators; almost a full decade before the flame wars about them simmer down into slowly eroding entrenched positions. Our deep fan mission isn't much different. We're going to stumble, make mistakes - I'm sure more than a few, before we find our footing and appreciation of Enterprise and Discovery. But we're going to learn from those mistakes. That's what being human is all about. That and avoiding putting actresses in catsuits. I'm sorry you can't see that.
