2 Trailer Observations/Oddities

First off to mods, I think this topic warrants it's own thread, but if you think it belongs in the trailer thread feel free it move it.

Now onto my observations. MAKE SURE YOU VIEW IMAGES AT FULL RESOLUTION (1680x1050)

[Image 1]: This might explain why George Kirk saved 800 lives when the Kelvin is smaller than the Enterprise. As you can see, it seems like there is another ship heading towards the kelvin. It doenst' look as obvious in a still image, but if you watch the trailer, as the camera moves, the object moves independently from the Narada and is moving towards the Kelvin.

On top of this, the blue phaser bolt is BEHIND it.

From what I can tell, the ship has 2 winds pointed outwards, a ring (nacelle?), a fin and some sort of dome on the front.

[Images 2 & 3]: It seems like Sulu and Kirk are hugging mid air? You can clearly see a beige suit and a blue suit when the parachute is pulled. Also in the second third image you can see two legs pointed towards each other, one of each colour. In the second image you can see a beige face with a blue streak on it.

Anyone care to explain these two things?

Hmm, I'm not really seeing a ship there, but I'm probably not looking hard enough. :)

The last two, it must be that they only have one emergency chute, and after Kirk jumps down after Sulu, they manage to get it open?

Not at all. I'm sure there are more than two classes of Federation starship in the J.J.-verse.

Spock's timeship?

That's kind of what it was looking like to me. Hard to be sure, though.

I was making a ''joke'' someone else on these boards said that due to the size & shape of the ship, that it had to be a GALAXY class ship.

During the fight on the platform Sulu gets knocked off and kirk jumps off to save him, that is why you see the embrace, it was not during the jump to the platform but after the fight.

Look at anthony's screen cap break down here:

Interesting point about the kelvin, it is a bit smaller than the enterprise, 800 is alot of people packed in there concidering the only other biger crew count is vastly larger Galaxy class. So there could have been a another ship or colony they protected.

I think the statement of "saved 200 lives" possible refers to another ship, or multiple ships, that got away as he engaged the Narada. Seeing as how it appears the Kelvin is blown to bits, I doubt that the 200 lives where the crew.

That was ''800 Lives''

That's what I assumed first, but if they have an emergency chute, then why is it so imperative for "the Enterprise to rescue Kirk and Sulu just as they are about to become bug-blatter."? (and I quote from a review of the 20 minute preview).

PLAESE correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I had read a trekmovie interview with J.J.Abrams where he said that the KELVIN was responding to a Klingon distress call! I also remember in that same interview that Orci or Abrams said that by the time the distress call gets to the Kelvin, the NARADA had already destroyed 47 Klingon Battlecruisers! the reason I bring this up now is because I'm wondering if those 800 lives may have been Klingon? Also I thought it odd that they would specifically say ''47'' Klingon ships.

Maybe the chute doesn't work or their possible landing spot is hot Vulcan lava from Nero's drill.
