2 DVRs..whew!!!

This coming Monday; it finally is happening. With many shows on staggered schedules, its been pretty easy this year. But now...now I will have to rev up the standby DVR...why you ask?

Mondays are becoming jammed pack that two DVRs will be needed. The Big Bang Theory--2 1/2 Men--Heroes--24--Chuck---How I Met Your Mother--Dancing with the Stars (wife's favorite show--are all populating monday night!

I am now renting two HDTV Dvrs and switch back and forth..but because BOTH respond to the same remote, I have to make sure one is 'off' and one is 'on' so as not to accidently cancel or delete items on the other one...getting my daughter to understand that one has to OFF while one has to be ON is hard to explain...

What about you out there? Is there a particular night where it seems a bunch of shows you watch are all clumped together???

My solution is just to record the two shows that will be hardest to obtain online legally and free. I'll watch the third show via hulu or that network's website.

It just isn't the same, for us, on HULU. I have wife/kids and, as of yet, I don't have my tv hooked up to my computer...and we like to watch all the shows together...maybe in the future, but right now computer/TV is not family friendly; for us at least...

I gave in and got that a while back (2 DVRs). Got a second HDTV, and figured if I had to rent a HD box anyway...

Mondays are especially good for this, as I've had this problem for a while. 8pm gets me House, How I Met Your Mother, and now Chuck as well.

It's also useful for things like sports, where I've got my whole schedule all set up for the DVR, but then Red Sox come on from 7pm-10:30ish. Otherwise, i was always missing something or only watching the game during commericals, a shitty compromise.

Hell, I totally forgot about House. I love the House/24 double bill!!!

I watch CSI, Fringe, and the Office... which are all in the same time slot. It's ridiculous. I usually just randomly pick one to watch that night.

I can record 4 shows with my DVR so even on busy Thursday nights I can get everything recorded. If for some strange reason that's still not enough, we have two VCRs that work rather well.

24 will be up against Heroes for a few weeks. Sadly, it's Heroes I will watch. :rommie: Why not, season's almost over and 24 just dicks around for a while till they get the season kicked into gear. I don't suppose either is being re-broadcast later in the week?

Santa brought us a second DVR as well.

It's in the master bedroom, and is used primarily for soaps and soap-like medical dramas.....

Thursdays wre a bear during the fall. Flashforward at 8pm on ABC...Then Fringe and Supernatural opposite each other at 9, and the Mentalist at 10 added up to watching too much. Fridays was even tougher with Smallville, Dollhouse, Monk, Psych, Stargate Universe, Clone Wars, Numb3rs, White Collar, Sanctuary, Medium...Whew. I wound up simply alternating, watching/recording one show one week while watching another, then switching shows the next.
Cramming so much in one night doesn't feel as satisfying as it once did.

I wanted a 2nd DVR for my room and called up Time Warner, and they're sending me one out tomorrow, no charge. :D

^ No charge *now*, maybe, but what about monthly?

There won't be any monthly charge on the DVR. It's included in our DigiPic package, but we had originally stated we only wanted one for the living room. So when I requested one for the bedroom, I figured there would be some kind of fee for adding on the order, but they said no, it's a part of the pack and there won't be any charge. Now, there will be a charge for the DVR programming but that's like 73 cents a month. I can handle that, because right now I've been using my VCR to record my favorite shows. What I'm getting is an HD DVR, which is just awesome.

Mondays for me. Mondays House, How I Met Your Mother and Chuck all compete for my and my fiance's attention. We could probably watch one on our second TV, but I hate commercials, and prefer watching HD. A third tuner on our DVR box or another box would be lovely.
