12.5 Million on Friday 5/15

Whether this weekend ends up being in the high 30s or just over 40, it's a lock for $200 million domestic. Some of the extrapolations being reported on sites like Deadline Hollywood are using multipliers that look a little low to me for a second weekend. Depending on whether the Friday number ends up being $11.9 or $12.5 million, or something in between, I think we're looking at a second weekend of $38-41 million. A little lower than I was hoping for, but still a very good second weekend hold by summer blockbuster standards.

According to the OP's link Trek is projected to end the weekend with $143 M for its run so far with Wolverine at $150 M. At this rate Trek will catch and pass Wolverine sometime this week, or next weekend at the latest.
these are great projections in only the 2nd week. i just wish it would beat D&A this week but that's wishful thinking.

My old call was $215 million and I'll let it stick for now...but I think Squiggy's number might be fractionally better.

I understand 12.5 is decent number and a decent 2nd week drop. However, I am saying it is disappointing compared to what most people here on this site were saying. Most people were projectiong 45-50 Million, which obviously will not happen.

Since most people on this site don't know what they're talking about, I'd say your first course of action would be to stop taking what you read so seriously.

If you believed everything you heard and read you'd be worthy of far worse appellations than "Chicken Little".

Keep in mind that this is only for FRIDAY; there's still the entire long weekend to go.

Star Trek will be getting another $12.50 from me and 4 friends tomorrow too.

So the question is how much will it go up tomorrow, and then how far down Sunday...

I have to say the drop off was larger than I expected...

OK i will go and see the movie again for a third time on Monday to bump the totals up again, but that's the last...

Never seen a movie ever in a cinema 3 times.....that's Imax is just a amazing experience.

Star Trek will pass 180 million dollars during the second week in June, and will likely continue to play in domestic release through the end of August. Over 200 million is easy - probably 200 million in mid-July.

It should get to $180 Million by May 26th, $200 Million by 1st June. Total gross: $235-245 Million.

Date Daily Gross Total Gross

16/05 $11,850,000 $116,482,539
17/05 $16,000,000 $132,482,539
18/05 $10,000,000 $142,482,539

20/05 $2,517,860 $147,888,532
21/05 $2,312,241 $150,200,773
22/05 $2,377,040 $152,577,813

26/05 $5,000,000 $181,457,060
27/05 $1,664,946 $183,122,006

31/05 $5,924,132 $195,937,173
1/06 $5,333,464 $201,270,636

These numbers are based on 75% of Iron Man grosses, so far Trek has exceeded those figures every day except one (last Saturday).

17/05 & 18/05 are my guesstimates for this weekend. 16/05 is the current estimate on BOM. Rest are 75% of Iron Man.

Iron Man's competition:

Week 1: No direct competition
Week 2: What Happens in Vegas, Speed Racer.
Week 3: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Week 4: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Week 5: Sex and the City

:)

Thanks (lazy mod! BAD mod!).

I will say this--if Star Trek can survive the initial onslaught of Terminator and NatM, its legs may carry it a bit further.

We shall see... crossing fingers for Sat&Sun take.

I think we'll see more of a drop once Terminator Salvation and Night at the Museum 2 opens. Both take up the action and family oriented crowds that have ventured towards Star Trek so far.

Jesus Cross Christ!!!!

And look at that Avatar with Spock grabbing Uhura's ta-tas!

That is called the Vulcan Breast Pinch in the new timeline.

Bonehead guys: it's clearly the Vulcan Breast MELD. No pinching, dude. He's allowed to say, "PAIN!" and "CRY FOR THE CHILDREN."
