If that's true, then why oh why did the whole of the press conference (from the BBC to the reporters) all label Smith as the "Eleventh" Doctor? Are you saying that RTD, Moffet, Tennant, the BBC, every single press report, etc. etc. etc. are all wrong and that your one lone theory trumps all of them? I think that's called arrogance.
Ah, the marketing argument.
For what it's worth, that's an argument against the "Morbius" Doctors and the Richard E. Grant Doctor. Because the BBC's marketing doesn't include them in the tally, then they must not count.
I can see the argument that Tennant is both the tenth and eleventh (and see, even though I believe in what "Morbius" tells me, I
have to refer to the numbers as counting from Hartnell/Hurndall, skipping Grant entirely to be understood), but I'm going to quote Spock here -- "A difference that makes no difference
is no difference." Show me how the Tennant Doctor pre-"The Stolen Earth" is different than the Tennant Doctor post-"Journey's End" and I
may, and I
might grant that these really
are two different regenerations of the Doctor. (Of course, now I wonder if the Doctor's standard procedure going forward will be to chop his hand off immediately after regeneration, to prolong his lifespan.) And let's consider this problem -- how do you put across to the audience that Tennant is playing two
different Doctors? For the nonce, Tennant's Doctor is a single incarnation; the regenerative crisis was halted thanks to the jiggery-pokery of the Doctor's severed hand. That's what people understand, and unless another story can be built around that, I don't see it as a factor in the series going forward.
I think I'm one of the few people in the world who liked that interior.
Oh, I absolutely adored the gothic, steampunk interior. Yes, it was completely bonkers as compared to what previous Doctors had had, but it really fit with the Doctor's personality. It's by far my favorite TARDIS console room.
