I'm surprised they are announcing it this soon. I love how Piers Wenger manages to word his comment to keep the gender of the new Doctor unclear.

I hope they realize too that as great as David Tennant has been, the new Doctor must be his own man (or woman, so to speak). Personality changes with regeneration, and I hope we don't just get someone giving their best David Tennant impression.

 

I've decided I'd like Alan Davies to be the next doctor.

 

I still think they missed the boat by not casting Ken Dodd in 2005.

now I cant post on DoctorWhoForum at the moment so I am going to post my crazy on here.

Why are they announcing it so early? the 11th Doctor is not due to film yet, will he be appearing in the specials?

 

^ I think they are planning to shoot in summer, so once they've cast him (her?) they'll have to keep it under wraps for 6 months. They might be wondering if they can keep it secret for that long. I hadn't thought that 11 will appear in a special, but it could happen, I suppose.

Remember ages ago, someone posted that 11 will be Paul Kaye? Just had a flashback to that.

 

Wow, already?? Aaah, what do we do, what do we do?! As Flibble said, I really hope they've chosen wisely, but then they've previously made A-1 choices with Eccleston & Tennant, so one would hope they'll continue the trend. ::crosses fingers::

 

The moment the contract was signed the countdown to it being leaked to a Tabloid started so thay don't have much choice but to get the Official Announcement out first.

I can get on board with this. He's a wonderful actor, and has a scary quality, too, which is always good in a Doctor.
