11th Doctor Casting announcment tommorow

I found the perfect outfit for the Eleventh Doctor!

doctor_11.jpg
:guffaw:you know sometimes I have to wonder who thought that suit was a good idea?

John Nathan Turner
well yes, but why did no one say to him "um John we think your great and we look forward to seeing where you go with the 6th Doctor, but this outfit, NO NO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO"

sure why not

Ecchelston's doctor had personality like the 4th doctor

Tennant has said straight up that his favorite Doctor is Peter Davison. (And I don't just mean in that tongue in cheek way he did in "Time Crash," either.) Naturally there's that wacky quality present in the Tenth Doctor as there was in the Fifth.

Smith could have a personlity like the first or sixth

:guffaw::guffaw:

I guess we have to wait till the 15 doctor to get back to a Tennant like guy.

For 11 give him question marks and a hat

but it will all be worth it when we see "Time Crash 2"

With the way they're going through regenerations, the 15th doctor will be in 2025
well you know my theory is that Tennant is both 10 & 11, so this Smith guy is 12, so I would say 2021 - 2022.

He is the 10th and 11th and I'm shocked no one sees that and asks anyone dealing with the show about that!
you know I get the feeling that people dont like to discuss it, since Tennant said that it would be endless disscussed

it took me awhile to get what you were talking about. I'd say 10 used the hand to suck all possible regeneration energy out and the energy gave birth to 10.2.

He's still 10

I would have imagined 11 in a dark outfit but actually dressing him "against character" in something colourful would be a great idea. It should of course be a more, um, tasteful costume, though.

I don't know about "colorful," but I would like to see him in something a bit more wacky and eccentric again (just no question marks, please).

Actually what I'd REALLY like to see is another old-fashioned, Victorian style outfit like the 1st and 8th Doctor had. I think that justaposition of him walking around some futuristic or alien world in something from the 19th century would be cool to see.

I tend to agree with RTD on wacky costumes:
Before we started, we talked a lot about "eccentricity". Well, the Doctor's got two hearts. He's 900 years old. And he travels in time and space. He doesn't need funny clothes.
There's nothing wrong with a slightly old-fashioned or unusual look, but the more attention-grabbing stuff doesn't say "I'm the Doctor," it says "I'm your daffy uncle." No, thanks.

Nobody could tell him anything but Colin Baker hated that outfit he wanted an all black outfit as well.

You have to admit that would give his face some character.
Actually, no he doesn't nor does anyone else, so I will thank you to not post such comments again. They are needlessly cruel, and you will probably find we don't tolerate such here. Since you are apparently new to the forum, maybe it will take some time for you to settle in. Even so, try taking a bit kinder approach and things ought to meld nicely.

Watching "Doctor Who" fans respond to change makes some of us Trekkies feel less odd.
you think this is bad? ive seen it ALOT worse than this.
actually can I just add to that?

*yes you may*

Thanks

it actually surprises me how badly Dcotor Who fans take change, I can kinda understand it in Trek fans, before 12 months ago the idea of anyone else playing Kirk was crazy, and would get you banned from the internet from even suggesting it, but the Doctor has changed many times, its within his nature, it should be within the nature of his fans to accpet that.

What they - we - have in common is somewhat more fundamental: long-running genre entertainment is a kind of "comfort food," and when people become accustomed to a recipe and like it the idea of having it changed on them is unwelcome.

Dear God, the last time I saw a forehead like that, it was on the guy who'd discovered fire. He reminds me of Peter Boyle in 'Young Frankenstein':wtf:

Lazy choice by the Beeb - a chance to really shake up the character and they're sucking up to their young girl audience.

Pity.

To be fair, you and I have no idea what kind of energy he'll bring to the role, and it's entirely possible that the young girl audience may be alienated from him in spite of his looks and age.

And it wasn't the Beeb that made the choice, was it? It was Steven Moffat, aka the Great God of DW Fandom himself.

The difference with Dr. Who is that we're used to the changes since it happens all of the time, it just takes some time to get used to them. With Star Trek some people will never get used to the chages look at all the complaints about the new movie showing the Enterprise being built on the ground and in Iowa. ;)

Generally, every time I see a new actor chosen as the Doctor I go "Oh, no..." but then I realize there hasn't been a single Doctor that I haven't liked. I've honestly liked every single Doctor from the first to the tenth, because they've all shared a sense of wonder and otherwordly coolness that comes part and parcel with the character. The face and demeanor may change with every incarnation, but it's still the Doctor in the end...

Smith will undoubtedly be a different Doctor than his predecessors because of his youth, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play his Doctor that way but more like some of the older Doctors.

Lets see how composed WHO fans would be if the tardis ended up like this;)

Well, he's very pretty. And young! I do agree with some who say that the producers are probably trying to keep/encourage a teen girl audience...they make for passionate fans, that's for sure.

That being said, I'm sure he's a good actor--I don't think Dr. Who (the new incarnation; I haven't seen the older ones :o ) has made a casting misstep yet. I loved both Doctors and all the Companions have been good, too, as well as the villains. So I imagine this guy probably is as well. I'm very sorry to see Tennant go, but I hope this new guy will be good!

I'm waiting and seeing.
Remember the fuss when they announced Donna Noble would become a full time companion. 'I'll never watch Who again!' 'Catherine Tate will ruin the show!' Yet Donna Noble changed and became much loved. Be honest how many people shed a tear during Journey's End.
Yes, he's largely unknown but that could work to his advantage.
