11th Doctor Casting announcment tommorow

Out all all the people they pick someone who is about my age?!

The great part of DT is he is older, but not old, and still youthful and fun and daring. Now we have this kid, I was really hoping for someone older!

Welcome to getting older.

I look at police now and think, "How can these young boys in uniforms help me?"

It starts getting weirder when you start seeing birthdates AFTER you got your driving license.

You'll get used to it.

Well, he's very pretty. And young! I do agree with some who say that the producers are probably trying to keep/encourage a teen girl audience...they make for passionate fans, that's for sure.

That being said, I'm sure he's a good actor--I don't think Dr. Who (the new incarnation; I haven't seen the older ones :o ) has made a casting misstep yet. I loved both Doctors and all the Companions have been good, too, as well as the villains. So I imagine this guy probably is as well. I'm very sorry to see Tennant go, but I hope this new guy will be good!
Well I remember they were saying that teenagers are the lost audience, because they like to think they're too cool for it, or whatever, but they will enjoy it if they watch it. So I suppose it could be, but it seems daft considering the ratings.

I think he looks promising, myself. I'm a bit disappointed that he seems a safe choice, and personally disappointed in his youth. It was hard enough to have a crush on Tennant (who you may know I have dubbed the Boy Tennant to acknowledge the uncomfortableness I feel in fancying someone younger than myself). It's all going to be far too icky to fancy 11.

In the brief interview clips I've seen of him, I think I've seen moments when he does seem engaging and mature, so I think he'll be okay on that score.

I think the prodcuers are going after the yoof audience, maybe cashing in on the Twilight thing.

Considering his companions will be interesting. I hope they really push the boat out and give us an odd couple companion. It would have been majorly interesing to see him with Donna - a younger guy and an older woman. I'm interested to see what happens when he next runs into Jack.

I think it'll be okay. But he's so young...:lol:

Maybe the producers are going after the younger viewers, but since Who is apparently supposed to be a family show, is that really such a bad thing?

Personally I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this guy, even though he's only a year older than I am. I'm really going to miss Tennant, though, since he's really the Doctor I identify with most (considering I didn't really start getting into the show until his first season).

I don't know if this guy is the best choice, but then again I had no idea who Tennant was and he turned out to be a great Doctor. I'm willing to give him a chance and I'm looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the role.

We've had two straight skin-and-bones Doctors and now you expect the next one to hit the gym? :p

Maybe THAT's it!!!!!!

Maybe he WON'T be STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Maybe THAT is what he means when he says he is going to put a spin on it or whatever!!!!!!!!!!!

*waits for whingeing fandoms' head to explode considering most of the asexual 14 year olds freak out when the Doctor kisses a GIRL(BLECCCHH YUCKKKK!!!!)*

So not impressed with this choice. Of all the talented actors out there, they go with a BOY.

So he can't be a talented actor unless he's an age you approve of? Don't be so fucking ridiculous.

And I love how young man = emo. The guy was optimistic, charming and interesting - about a million miles away from anything I'd associate with "emo". My word some of you guys can be really superficial.

Well, that's rather rude. I'm allowed to express my opinion, just like anyone else.

Did I say otherwise? Yes, you're perfectly entitled to express your opinion on a public message board. By the same token, anyone else is entitled to find it ridiculous. Which I did.

I didn't like him in the interview I saw, I thought he was too young, but I never said anything about him being "emo."
I didn't say you did. That was a new paragraph, addressing those who had.

And I noticed you cut out the part of my post where I said I shall simply have to "get over it," which I think indicates I am NOT taking this all that seriously.
Because that's not the part I was responding to.

I don't curse anyone out for their opinions. I rather expect the same. We're talking about a TV show here. I don't think it's worth cursing and insulting people.
My apologies, but I don't know you personally, so it wasn't my intention to insult you. Your words, however, are fair game - just like everyone elses.

Didn't anybody point out that Tenant is infact the 11th doctor? and that this new guy is infact the 12th? just wondering if that was already pointed out.

Nobody pointed it out because it isn't true.

Who 10 was shot and killed by the Daleks, he regenerated but was able to use the 'hand' to retain the same form. Actor wise Tenant is the 10th but Doctor Who wise he's now the 11th and has technically played two doctors.

Therefore Matt Smith will be the 12th Doctor.

This came from RTD himself, did it?

No, sorry, that's just nonsense fanwank. It's made very clear that he didn't fully regenerate, and what separates one Doctor from another, hmm? Looks and personality? So what's the point in making such an arbitrary distinction between Doctor 10 and... Doctor 10?

But, y'know, believe what you like. And Jenny "regenerated" too, I'll bet.

Pretty much my sentiments, too.

I just hope the choice to cast such a young Doctor (He's younger than me! I'm old, now. :() wasn't some misguided attempt to appeal to young people. Kids know when they're being pandered to. If that's what this is, then they'll see through it. Besides, the idea that teens aren't interested in shows revolving around non-teens is rubbish.

That said, Doctor Who's casting has been excellent. The uproar over this casting can't get any more rancorous than the one over Catherine Tate's casting. We all know how that turned out. Add to that Moffat's own casting record on "Coupling". Again, excellent. I'm a bit disappointed now, but I have faith that Moffet and the casting department know what they're doing.

It doesn't really matter one way or the other, as long as the show remains popular they aren't going to cancel it because they run out of regenerations.
