11th Doctor Casting announcment tommorow

How did fans react when bit part player Colin Baker went from a guard on Gallifrey to the good Doctor? Will there be a bit of fan wankery to get around companions asking "Aren't you that bloke out of Peep Show?"

^ never mind Peep Show or Survivors, if Rose ever comes back, she should be asking if he was ever on the Weakest Link.

That or his companion should just shout "Numberwang" at random points

I'm going to a LAN party tomorrow with no Internet access and I wont be back home until Sunday night, hopefully it will be announced before I leave.

and you call yourself a Doctor Who fan.

I know. What kind of Who fans go to parties? :wtf:
It's a bunch of geeks playing videogames for 28 hours strait, I think I still qualify as a Who fan. :techman:

It doesn't start until 2PM Central Time so hopefully Tennant's replacement will be announced a few hours before that.

Whoever the new Doctor is, he (or she, but I don't see that happening... yet) was clearly selected some time ago, since this approach to the announcement would have taken a long time to plan. So either the BBC are still crap at secrets and it's one of the people who've been on the media short list for months, or the BBC have learned something about secrecy and it's a surprising choice. I'm hoping for the former but leaning toward the latter. ;)

WHAT!?!?!

Damn, I didn't think we would find out this soon! How cool is that?

I'm actually giddy. Giddy with anticipation.

ohgod I hate the Daily Mail

For starters, the "first BLACK Doctor Who!" line is already fucking tedious. The idea that his skin pigmentation is significant is pretty backwards.

And where do they get these "who fanatics" for a quote?

Another (who fanatic) Bradley Edwards said: 'It will never be the same when David Tennant has gone, no matter who the actor is.'

just think once we find out, we can start speculating about who his companion will be, and then we can all spend some time with our wives & girl friends.

I don't have a wife or girlfriend. :( Can I spend time with my husband instead? ;)

Considering the vast differences in age, accent and appearance between the existing 10 doctors, skin colour would be a relatively minor change, different sex would be huger, I wonder then if the Doctor would have male companions?

Mind you, a female Doctor with a female companion that still does the old "falling in love with the doctor and kissing them at every opportunity" thing, I could still go for.

If its Moffit choosing the new Doctor, I just say we trust him, hes already provided us with most of the best episodes of new Who, so who better to give us a New Who?

I firmly believe that The Doctor is a male Time Lord, but within that description anything goes (accepting that Time Lords are humanoid).

I don't understand why skin colour would be an issue for anyone (and seriously Cky, I hope you were taking the piss), but gender should be consistent imho. It's a fundamental part of the character.

No it isn't.

Joanna made a delovely Doctor Who.

Can the official word hurry the hell up, my clock is assuring me that it has been the 3rd all day and it's an hour away from becoming the fourth, but then I am practically shagging the international dateline.

The media aren't making the wait any easier. It's all over the BBC Breakfast News and Sky news this morning. They've got a couple of pundits on the BBC at the moment, and the stupid news anchor woman has said, "no need for spoiler alerts...." Stop using our terminiolgy in your stupid mainstream media, you stupid woman.

I'm sorry... I'm getting a bit het up.

From the article:

His replacement - the eleventh Doctor of the TV series - will be revealed in a Doctor Who Confidential programme on BBC One at 1735 on 3 January.
It's 10am there now, so you're in for a bit of a wait.

...in a comic relief skit.

I'm not saying there are no actresses who could do the part justice, I'm just saying that as far as I'm concerned he's a male Time Lord.

And I wish people would stop using The Curse of the Fatal Death as an excuse for suggesting any fucker with an equity card would make a good regular, official Doctor.
