The voice thing can't be truer. I actually discussed this with my dad and he said it's cause Patrick Stewart is English and Kirk's actor is American. Anyway, I enjoyed reading this.

Actually, Bill Shatner is Canadian. Trekkies would have to wait until 'Deep Space Nine' before they had an American actor in the lead.

It's not really because he's British, anyway. Plenty of British people sound unimpressive. It's not even that he's got that Received Pronunciation accent - plenty of people with that still sound unimpressive. It's his forceful, impassioned, charismatic style of delivery.
