1000 Channels How Many have your watched?

I'm not paying for cable this year, and I have no idea how many channels I have watched.

I will say that, for the last year or so, the only regular channels I ever watched were Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), TNT (only for re-runs of Angel), SciFi (but I stopped once BSG ended), and NBC (but only for Chuck, and I stopped when the season was over).

I won't miss Adult Swim. I now own the Angel DVDs. I don't watch SyFy (I might pick up the SGU DVDs down the road if it gets decent reviews), and I can watch Chuck online when it comes back.

Curious. Are you watching Bleach?

I'm not watching anything now. I got rid of cable.

But no, when I did have cable, I never watched Bleach.

If I only count channels I watch for at least 30 minutes a month, it's probably CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, Comedy Central, ESPN, ESPN2, CSN-PHI, Big Ten Network, Versus, That weird channel that Phillies games sometimes air on, BBCAmerica, Bravo, Syfy (well, not lately)...that's about it.

I only watch a small fraction of the hundreds of channels Comcast carries. Mostly Turner Classic, History and Sciffy. Occasionally Cartoon Network and NatGeo. CNN for news. I watch a handful of Network shows, but I have no idea which Network is which anymore. I also listen to some of the digital music stations, mostly 70s and 80s, if that counts.

Occasionally while surfing I'll run across something on another channel I feel like watching, but not very often.

I remember now. Didn't Directv said that they're planning on to launch 1,000 channels two years ago, did they? Is it too expensive to make that happening or what?

Let's see, for myself I watc:

ABC
CBS
Fox
Comedy Central
Discovery Channel
The Food Network

And.... I really think that is about it.

I probably watch about 10 channels. I really wish they could let you pick and choose what you want
Here in the UK Sky let you pick by genre packages. Variety has the general entertainment channels, then you have news and events, knowledge, music, culture, children's and HD then the premium movies and sport.
Costs £17.59 for 1 package, then a pound more for each other pack, until you go for movies, sports, or HD. HD costs £10 more on your subscription, Sports and Movies are £18 and £16 a month respectively.

BBC 1, (Merlin, Doctor Who, Torchwood, SJA, Strictly, Robin Hood, Heroes) BBC 2, (used to be Heroes and Torchwood) 3,(Doctor Who Confidential) 4 (couple of docus) and News (when 7/7 happened)

ITV 1 (Primeval, Demons) nad 2 (Bionic Woman).

Dave (reruns when Dad has it on)

G.O.L.D. (likewise)

Sky One (Fringe)

Sky Movies Premiere (SW The Clone Wars as well as odd films)

Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, Xtra and News (A1 grand prix mostly and when Dad has SSN on).

Channel 4 (used to watch Friends)

Five (used to watch Herc and Xena)

Five USA (The Unit reruns)

Virgin 1 (T:SCC)

Bravo (when Dad used to watch Walker and Airwolf)

think that's the ones where I've watched more than five minutes of them.

I don't really notice what channel I'm watching anymore, but I think I must skim past most of channels at some point across a week or three. That's not to say I necessarily watch a long segment of programming on each channel, just that I tend not to be channel-loyal, but rather am by nature a channel-hopper. If a program interests me, I'll watch a few minutes until I get bored, but almost never tune in specifically to anything (apart from maybe Simpsons reruns on C4 which are on about the time I tend to get home from work).

I tend to have the TV on in the background all the time though, if I'm doing something else, and it's not uncommon that I'll look up from whatever that something else is and shudder at the shite I had been unconsciously polluting my eardrums with while not paying attention to the TV...
