10 Favorite Deep Space 9 Characters

1. Jadzia Dax
2. Garak
3. Kira Nerys
4. Odo
5. Intendent
6. Worf
7. Benjamin Sisko
8. Martok
9. Nog
10. Quark

But I mean really almost all the characters on DS9 are amazing so this list could probably change in a second! No other Star Trek had such a completely solid cast!

Finding this very difficult ...

=1: Garek
=1: Dukat
3: Rom
=4: Sisko
=4: Jadzia
=4: Worf
=7: Quark
=7: Weyoun
9: Miles
10: Martok

... very difficult indeed. I feel bad for many others that I missed off my list: Grilka , Nog, Odo, Winn, Ishka, The Nagus, Brunt, Ezri and that Cardassian woman that had a thing for Miles. Major Kira grew on me as I got older, but was amongst my least favourites a teenager.

The characters I liked the least are : Bareil, Shakaar and Eddington.

This is harder then it appears at first glance.
1 - Garak
2 - Kira
3 - Quark
4 - Odo
5 - Sisko
6 - Weyoun
7 - Rom
8 - Martok
9 - Damar
10 - Nog

That took a while to finish , especially at the end, so many good supporting cast that got enough story to be able to connect with them . The Trio of Ferengi are a great example. Each one grew on me , each got their own distinct stories . Great stuff :)

Top 10 favorites:

1. Odo - His character arc is one of the best in Star Trek. All the romance stuff and his relationships with Garek and Quark were truly enjoyable to watch. His episodes were always a neat perspective into the Dominion war too. He reminded me a lot of Data but it didn’t feel like they copied the character at all. Really unique in his own way.

2. Garek - Name a more lovable anti-hero. I’ll wait.

3. Nog - Nog at StarFleet should be a miniseries. I thought his transition over time was so cleaver and really well done. He was one of the characters I found myself constantly rooting for. It’s a shame that Jake wasn’t as likeable.

4. Jadzia - Awesome character. She’s strong, smart, engaging in other cultures, and her Trill storyline is sooo interesting. I loved hearing about all the Dax. She was one of the things that helped Sisko grow on me. Their relationship was so deep seeded and I felt like the roots he had with Curzon were portrayed in a realistic light. I would have loved more Curzon!

5. Dr. Bashir - Despite some of his creepier moments I found Bashir really endearing. He’s witty and caring, very loving when it comes to his friends. I didn’t like the plot twist that he was genetically engineered because it made you rethink his whole personality, but he was always fun and lighthearted to watch.

6. Miles (went back and fourth between him and Bashir for 5th) - I love Miles, Keiko isn’t my favorite though and it seems like his episodes are dominated by their quarrels. I wish they would have just kept her on Bajor and given him more of an independent storyline. His relationship with Bashir is one of the best pairings on the show. Maybe he should have married him! Haha

7. Rom - Rom is adorable. I especially love when you see his ingenuity shine through. I loved him with Leeta! He was also a great dad and really encouraged Nog to pursue StarFleet. A+ character.

8. Quark - Mostly on here because of his banter with Odo, but his shananigans were always funny. I liked seeing the softer side of him, like the episode where he tries to pick up some Klingon skills for the mating ritual.

9. Sisko - I thought he was a great Commander/Captain. He really made solid choices and he was a great dad, he didn’t let his stress and demanding job hurt his relationship with Jake. I wish he had a little more personality, but I would have been as happy to serve under him as I would have under Picard, my favorite.

10. Worf - I liked him better in TNG. I felt like he had more chemistry with a lot of the characters on the Enterprise. His relationship with Dax didn’t do it for me, and it kind of made me annoyed how Kingon she tried to be. But ultimately, he’s still my favorite Klingon and moments when he softens up a little are gold. #xlargeprunejuice

Least favorite:
Kassidy - YAWWWN
Kira - I found it annoying because I couldn’t keep track of her sex life. She was always flirting with someone or dating a different guy. They pushed the sex appeal way too hard which is a shame because Nana Visitor is great. Minus the shoulder pads of course.
Keiko - Just stop. Let Miles win one!

3 - Bashir
4 - Odo
5 - Ross
6 - Martok
7 - Dukat (what a great villain!)
8 - Winn (another great villain!)
9 - Sisko (Benjamin, not Jake. Sorry, Jake)
10 - Weyoun

Honorable Mention - Morn

1) Sisko - Obviously. He's the Emissary and one of my three favorite characters in all of Star Trek.
2) Garak - Only DS9 could have pulled off a character like Garak. Andy Robinson stole every scene he was in.
3) Kira - Kira carried the show in its early seasons; most of my favorite episodes from the first couple seasons were Kira episodes. While the Odo romance was charming, I feel Kira lost her way for the last half of the show. I still loved the character, but far too often she was defined by that "will they/won't they" romance storyline.
4) Jadzia Dax - The opposite of Kira: Jadzia got better as the show went along. I loved her ability to balance deep intellect with vibrant joy; sort of a female Einstein, in a way.
5) Vic Fontaine - I get the feeling Vic is unpopular in some parts. I don't know why because I love the guy. I love James Darren's performance, I love the songs, I love the Vegas coolness.
6) Bashir - Bashir went through a lot of phases (wide-eyed newbie, Garak-Bromance, secretive and self-loathing enhanced Bashir, Section 31, and war-weary vet), and I enjoyed them all.
7) Quark - Sure, Quark didn't really develop much over the course of the series (and some of those Ferengi comedy episodes fell flat), but Armin Shimerman owned this role and brought some much needed lightness to the series.
8) O'Brien - I love Colm Meaney. One of my favorite character actors of the past thirty years. I loved the O'Brien-Bashir bromance. But he's further down on this list because, like Quark, O'Brien didn't develop very much over the series.
9) Odo - I loved Odo in the early seasons: the outsider, the detective, the cynic. Something very different than we had seen before in Trek. But between his romance with Kira and his arc with the Founders, Odo became a bit of a bore in the later seasons. No fault of Rene Auberjonois; he was amazing.
10) Dukat - Yeah, that last season really hurt Dukat's character and dropped him to down the list, but pre-pah wraith Dukat was a spectacular villain.

10: Odo
9: Quark
8: Vic Fontaine
7: Jake (might not have been on the list but for the Visitor, but that was enough)
6: Damar (just for his "talk to Worf again joke, he gets a spot)
5: Kira
4: Weyoun
3: Garak
2: Ezri (my reasons are impure. I don't care)
1: The Sisko

honorable mention: Morn

1. Garak
2. Weyoun
3. Odo
4. Kira
5. O'Brien
6. Sisko
7. Martok
8. Quark
9. Brunt
10. Vreenak (because this time it's REEEAAAL!)

I’m glad someone else had a super detailed list!

1) Sisko

3) Kira
4) Jadzia Dax
5) Bashir
6) O'Brien
7) Worf
8) Garek
9) Quark
10) Dukat

Its not hard to choose to me, because in DS9 I really loved how the ferengis were portrait. So, my favorite character is a Ferengi and there are anothers ferengis in my list too.

- Quark (So funny and greed, love his hate/love relationship with Odo). Also his bar its so cool, so many good dialogues and scenes were shot there.
- Nog (love his laugh and how he became a Starfleet officer. His relationship when he was a kid with Jake is great also).
- Odo (the serious and responsible changeling was one of the best things in DS9. I just dislike when he lost his "powers".)
- Garak ( the tailorman ex-obsidian order is a fascinant character. You never know wich side he is, or if is planning something different. )
- Dukat (my favorite villain of this series. Love this cardassian.)
- Gran Nagus (He looks so funny. Giant and old ears with so much hairs. I love the way he laugh also).
- Vic Fontaine (What a cool character we had in the last season. The episodes where Vic sings are so great.)
- Rom (Ok, the last ferengi in my list. Rom was so dumb and naïve in the beginning. His relation with his brother are most of the part very funny).
- Kira (Cool character with that story past in the Bajorian guerilla. Also she is so sexy...)
- Dr. Bashir (all the doctors in the ST universe are unique and interesting, Bashir is one of them)

1. Benjamin Sisko - my favorite Trek captain
2. Garak
3. Odo
4. Chief O'Brien
5. Weyoun
6. Rom
7. Nog
8. Ziyal
9. Gul Dukat
10. Major Kira

Great list ! I loved the Ferengis as well; Just like the trill I forget about their arrival in TNG and just love the DS9 versions.
Vic was an awesome addition and my goodness Kira really was enchanting :)

Sisko (+ Jake - one of the best father/son relationships in television)
Kira (fantastic character growth over series)
Martok!
Garak & Bashir/Dukat & Kira/Weyoun & whoever
Bashir & O'Brien (awww :luvlove:)
Worf & Jadzia
Odo & Kira/ Odo & Quark
Nog & Jake
Kira & Damar

These reflect what I think made DS9 special and different: serialised character development. No solo Worf because while I enjoy Dorn's performance, he does feel shoehorned in.

In no particular order:

1) O'Brien
2) Garek
3) Sisko
4) Kira
5) Odo
6) Sloan
7) Ross
8) Weyoun
9) Quark
10) Martok

I watched the series on Netflix for the first time all the way through and have some revisions.

1. Kira — such a rich, multifaceted character. I liked her religious faith, Bajoran culture, love for Odo, her friendships and her vulnerability as much as her anger over the occupation and her toughness.
2. Odo — At first he reminded me in a good way of the butler on Downton Abbey. But he grew as a character, with Kira and Quark and his conflict over his role in the occupation, and his identity as a Changeling is something unique in Star Trek.
3. Miles — Far more fleshed out than he was on Next Generation, a true every man sort of character. I found a Keiko a bit pointless here, though, even though the kids are cute.
4. Worf — Klingons have never been my favorite characters but I enjoy Worf a lot here.
5. Bashir — the genetically enhanced bit and the spy storyline made him more interesting to me.
5. Jadzia Dax — I found her annoying in the early episodes but she improved.
6. Ezri — I think she would have been my favorite Dax if she had been in for more than one season. Though I don’t see her with Bashir.
7. Quark — Caricature in the first seasons, a character with a lot of insight and depth later on.
8. Garak — fascinating ex spy.
9. Nog — the war episodes really made me like him.
10. Sisko — He emotes too much and I disliked the Prophet bit. But he’s a good dad and has more shades of gray than other captains.
