Except for The Straight Story, I have no idea what ANYTHING by David Lynch is about.![]()
Well, Lynch is far more concerned about subtext and thematic meaning than text (I don't think there's ever been a more meticulous director when it comes to mise en scene)
but I've always found his work to at least have something of a defined narrative. Mulholland Drive is easily his most accessible film because it was written for television

Are you calling us old farts? I'd disagree but my age and flatulence would tend to prove your point.![]()
I resent the implication that I'm old simply because I love Twin Peaks. Now get off my lawn.
You know last year when I was in the States, I walked into this place to eat called Twin Peaks because it reminded me of the television show. Imagine my surprise.

https://twitter.com/DAVID_LYNCH/status/584855237946552320Dear Twitter Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks.
After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.
This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime.
I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.
Without Lynch my interest in the show has severely plummeted.

If Lynch and/or Frost wrote the scripts I can live with Lynch not directing. After all, he only directed a handful of the original episodes
