It may work out well. But I'm talking about films, not TV. We could wait until Picard series finishes and try a film. But with it behind a paywall, I don't think it will garner enough fans to gain enough interest in a film.

True. But all the new characters created after TOS were built up in TV series. And I don't see Discovery gaining enough popularity to risk a big budget film. And I'm certain Enterprise, DS9 and Voyager wouldn't either. I suppose you could try an Avengers style film combining the 3 TNG era...

Who would the characters be? The TOS crew retires after TUC. And We know what happens to Kirk an Scotty that would take them out of the picture until TNG.

They tried that with Men in Black this year. It bombed. Most people who've heard of Star Trek, have heard of Kirk and Spock. The only other characters close are from Next Gen. They're still alive. And Stewart is already doing his new series.

Since the Bad Robot film license expired last month, would anyone be open to TOS films set between TMP and TWOK? Recast with an older cast for the original characters. Use the same TMP ship. Maybe slightly updated the sets.

The trailer I originally saw did not have the end part with Data. But I just saw that. And Countdown is contradicted. So we don't know for certain how Data shows up. Could be just a hologram or a hallucination. And considering Picard's "I don't want the game to end" line, it may be one of those.

A lot of speculation based on the end of Nemesis and the 2009 Countdown comic says Data is resurrected in B4's body. But there is not talk on using Lore's body. Nemesis said B4 was too primitive. I wonder if Geordi would try to over-write Lore's Neural Net with Data's engrams.

I cannot think of a valid reason. After the loss of so many captains and First officers at Wolf 359, I would think he willingly accept his duty to Starfleet and command another ship. And I would expect Starfleet to not make it optional.
